(82,383 posts)If people are on welfare temporarily, there could have been a time in the past where they paid into the system - paid taxes. And a time after that. And welfare is still available in case people never on it or not on it now need it.
So the whole paradigm is false. Us and Them does not apply here.

(47,260 posts)"Good hard-working white people" fall on hard times and have to accept some help from the government, but THEY are entitled because they paid into the system. "Others", however, are freeloaders.
Actually I've known a few "freeloaders" who used and abused the system for their own benefit, but they were white and they were quick to look down on any minorities who used the same resources.
