ICE has headquarters in every state. So part of the ICEWatch can watch for the comings and goings of ICE, contact local news media and an immigration lawyer while following them.

At their arrival the immigration lawyer can show his papers, demand their papers, slow them down, perhaps enter the premises and warn employees. Make public statements about whether ICE are following or breaking the law.

There's probably a much smarter way to slow ICE down, but I don't think I've got the legal chops to come up with how an org like this might be effective beyond some watching activity.

Just the act of watching stasi might perhaps slow down stasi activity.

I apologize for lack of thoroughness. I haven't studied how watches have been effective elsewhere. I'll look into it.

And btw, this has been happening around our nation virtually every day for at least several decades that I know of. Frightened children are always very sad, but they and whoever was picked up are all alive and well, and many of these children were taken home by a parent or other relatives yesterday.

Literally tens of thousands of immigrants have gone missing after being taken into custody. Where are they? I assume most were deported and released back into their country of origin, but I cannot just assume that all of them made it out alive.

History is a guide, whenever in history a leader demonizes a group of people with words like "infestation", "animals, "they aren't even human" and those people are stripped of their rights and held in secret, atrocities have happened. Why do we think it isn't happening here? It most assuredly is happening, we have the reports of the conditions people are housed in, we have the reports of rapes by guards, and we have deaths of inmates. It is just a matter of time before mass graves are found, of that we can be certain.

Congress people aren't even being allowed to check on the welfare of these people.

While I don't think there's a systematic extermination going on right now, there most certainly are people being tortured, abused, and even killed.

And what's more, some of the children that have no one left to take care of them are being funneled to Bethany Christian Services, A Devos (Betsy's family) Right Wing group. They collect fees from the government to care for these children at a profit, but they are also a private adoption agency and charge $tens of thousands of dollars in adoption fees. They're selling these children for adoption at a profit. This company is in part based in my home town.

Why do people think this is so much different? Do people think the German people knew what was going on at the camps at first?

Anyway, the point of the story was how it stuck with her that her aunt's attempts to calm everyone always started with, "Good grief."

Reading this just now gave me a major chill, more than the original OP.
