Dear Mr. President: After Paul Ryan's speech, can you find ANY reasoning with those people?

On Saturday, Obama said in an interview with the Associated Press he's willing to compromise with the Republicons if he gets a second term. Cenk Uygur comments:

What happens 5 days later? Romney's running mate goes on the floor and tells LIE after LIE after LIE with PRATTs including blaming Obama for the 2008 closure of an auto plant in Janesville, Wisc. and blaming Obama for the credit downgrade. Did Ryan forget about John Boehner boasting, "I got 98% of what I wanted," after the debt ceiling negotiations?

And then there was Mitch McConnell's pledge, speaking for Senate Republicans: "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

And consider Chris Christie's vain, largely self-promoting speech yesterday at the RNC, leading to speculation he might be the 2016 nominee.

Does Obama really think Republicans will like him in his second term? In the face of all these events? In reality, the Republicans will play obstructionism and dominate the compromise game and fuck around with the economy for FOUR MORE YEARS, as long as it takes until they reclaim power. The Republicans know they failed to crash the economy on time for the 2012 election, so what do you know they'll plan on doing for 2016? And it's uncertain whether Israel and Iran will go to war right now. But who knows if Republicans will use the war to jack up gas prices and blame Obama.

So Obama, think about the kind of people you're trying to compromise with. It's not the era of Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Everett Dirksen, or Charles Percy anymore. This modern-day Republican Party, the party of forcible rape, legitimate rape, starve-the-beast, austerity, Kochs, and No-Tax Norquist is so far off the rails they will NEVER respect you.
