While some folks do abuse our free speech protections, its beyond absurd to threaten someone with prosecution for making jokes about a criminal suspects hairdo.

(6,261 posts)The UK today is an example of the sort of absurd situations these well-intentioned hate speech can lead to. One NOT to be emulated here.
Remember the guy who was prosecuted for teaching his girlfriend's dog the Hitler salute? Bad taste, sure. But a CRIME?
These laws are bound to be selectively and arbitrarily enforced accorded to the whims of the day.

But they do not have freedom of speech.
Its one area I think our law is superior.
