I'm spending a lot more time at Discussionist because there is a lot more debate going on there and they have a thicker skin. They don't click the alert button every time they get ruffled feathers. They dig in. They debate. They express themselves without fear and I love it.
The only safe place left here is the Lounge. And even there you have to wipe your feet.
All of the great comedians and debaters have died, left, or got PPR'd.

What if the alert was sent with actual good intentions (rumor has it, the road to hell is paved with those), but the alert is just silly, and it's obvious that the alerter didn't even understand the post they were alerting on?

I know the jury takes care of it by not voting to hide the post. But if, theoretically, someone sent in enough alerts that got rejected....maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to relieve them of the burden of having to decide on whether or not they should alert on a post.
