Co-founder of Apollo- personally worth $7bn w/access to preeminent experts of everything... sought tax strategy, estate planning & philanthropic advice from Jeffrey Epstein- the man who hung himself in prison while awaiting sex trafficking trial.
WHY?
@SRuhle
2/ Black became one of the richest men in America buying companies.He has a deep understanding of due dilligence, reputation risk & brand value.
Yet, he & his 4 children invested in a company with Epstein, a registered sex offender. 2 of his sons serve on the board.
WHY?

But so far, Mr. Black has not discussed a company that he and his four children as well as Mr. Epstein invested in three years after Mr. Epstein pleaded guilty to a charge of soliciting prostitution from a minor in Florida. Mr. Epsteins financial advisory firm took a roughly 6 percent equity stake in Environmental Solutions Worldwide in 2011. Two of Mr. Blacks sons serve on the board of the company, which makes emission control products, according to the company website.
A spokeswoman for Mr. Black did not have a comment.
In the weeks since Mr. Epsteins arrest in July, Mr. Black has found himself in the thorny situation of having to explain his personal business dealings with Mr. Epstein.
Neither Mr. Epstein nor any company controlled by him has ever invested in any funds managed by Apollo, Mr. Black said in the letter.

(89,241 posts)on him and his parents were not wealthy and based on the work they did were probably no more than middle class and maybe at the lower end of that.
i think he grew his wealth by blackmailing wealthy people and other people in positions of influence such as Barr's father.

Another possibility is he was involved with money-laundering.

(86,335 posts)the filthy rich need to stay rich is to have unfettered control over others, slavery of some kind or another. Money makes everything okay in a capitalist society. The all mighty dollar is what it's all about for them, and forcing others to do horrible things as well. There is no direct positive correlation between capitalism and the well being of all or any living things.

(11,514 posts)It's a given, anyone who had any level of financial dealings with Epstein had to be involved in some sort of criminal activity. Epstein was far too unqualified and far too dirty. And if the extent of Epstein's far-reaching web of crime and those involved is ever revealed, I have a feeling many of the names revealed will be surprising.

(43,063 posts)John DeLorean was smuggling drugs with his corporation.
Author Jim Marrs wrote Medieval Knights moved money like an international bank - money transfer - deposit here, pickup there - essentially like a corporation.
Common folk do not have the connections to smuggle. But look at the seizures of smuggled goods at our ports and borders each year, each week really. The Wall won't stop any of it.
So something might be going on wherever you look. She asks a good question. What's up with that?
