A mess getting workers out of Trump event. Crowd getting angry. Many of them stopped getting paid.

Read the thread.

A plant employee is now trying to calm the crowd down. Says they will get paid because they are still here working. No one can leave until the motorcade is gone. Most have been standing since noon.

It’s becoming a mess getting workers out of Trump event. Crowd getting angry. Many of them stopped getting paid at 3pm when their shift ended.

Electricians, ironworkers and construction workers are filing into the room where President Trump will speak in about two and a half hours.

His speech will highlight America's "energy dominance" w/ the backdrop of Monaca, Pa.'s Shell Pennsylvania Petrochemicals Complex.

I'm surprised no one fainted, because keeping them standing all that time is absolutely barbaric.

"Mandatory Fun Day!"

You WILL go and you WILL have fun!

That's an order!

In real life, these workers can leave anytime they want. It's work, not prison.

This is an unlawful denial of freedom.

There are certain things a company cannot force on their workers.

Religion and politics are on the list.

Poor Beaver County.

The trades men/women trying to actually build the place, don't worry about them. The self made billionaire will pay them for the hours they had to stay on the jobsite, unpaid, after work, so he could have a photo op.

The checks in the mail.

Yes, but not after the regular shift ended, thus the reason they were trying to leave before Trump finished speaking. Notice everyone facing away from the podium.

Wouldn’t the company paying the wages of these employees to attend count as a campaign contribution, likely in excess of the legal limit? @emrazz

Possibly...if you could establish that the worker’s time had intrinsic value to the campaign and not just to the company. I’m not sure the test for determining whether a thing has value in this context.

that was excited to hear an actual US president. The news would only show him b*tching about the Democrats. The communities must've been disappointed.

It's amazing that his dementia only kicked in when his plane finally touched down in CA. The same fate will be bestowed upon 45 (nudge, nudge, wink, wink--he's not crazy now!).

It is completely illegal to tell your employees to not bother showing up to work (and forgoing a paycheck) so that they are a captive audience to a political grandstanding rally. This was nothing but a campaign stop for him.
