I think that's a question that's worth discussing, he snuck into the White House, for reasons we've been arguing about since the 2016 election. Maybe if we discuss how much that will have cost us by the end of 2020, we'll better understand how important it is to win the 2020 election at all levels.
How much will our lack of vision and party solidarity have cost us?
I'll start:
1. We have set back the nation by allowing a conservative majority to become firmly established in the Supreme Court.
2. Voter intimidation and voter registration shenanigans have taken root and become established.
3. Our economy is in deep, deep trouble.
4. Our international relationships are strained to the breaking point.
5. Rights of many groups of citizens are in danger of being damaged beyond immediate repair.
Party Unity. We are going to desperately need that.

(115,587 posts)The environmental damage and the refusal to address climate change might be irreparable. The gutting of the federal agencies and the loss of the knowledge and expertise of people who left those agencies - especially State, EPA, Energy and Agriculture - will take years to repair. It will take many years to regain the trust of other governments of countries that are (or used to be) our allies. White supremacy and other forms of bigotry have been empowered, and I don't know what it will take, or how long, to beat that back. It took only three years to turn the US into the beginnings of a shithole country and I still have trouble believing how so much damage has been done so quickly.

(146,254 posts)time approaches its end. We are going to dearly regret what happened in 2016. I hope we learn from it. If we do not, we are truly screwed.

Another 4 years of decaying infrastucture.
4 years of ballooning deficits and debt.
Lost trade contracts to be backfilled.
Thousands of deaths from lack of health care progress and further gutting of ACA.
More wealth transfer to the rich.
Worsening immigration conditions.
Gun proliferation and increasing rate of gun massacres.
Rising hatred, and the nation at each others throats. Break ups of families and friendships.
I can't think of one good thing that has happened, and we haven't completed 3 years of him yet.
