Nearly 300,000 people sign petition to rename Trump Tower's street after Barack Obama

Tens of thousands of people have signed a petition to rename a one-block stretch of Fifth Avenue in New York City after former President Barack Obama. That particular block also happens to be the home of Trump Tower.

"We request the New York City Mayor and City Council do the same by renaming a block of Fifth Avenue after the former president whose many accomplishments include: saving our nation from the Great Recession; serving two completely scandal-free terms in office; and taking out Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind September 11th, which killed over 3,000 New Yorkers," creator Elizabeth Rowin wrote.

The petition requests that all buildings between 56th and 57th Streets on Fifth Avenue change their addresses. If the campaign is successful, Trump Tower's new address would read: "725 President Barack H. Obama Avenue, New York, NY 10022."

I call that 'change I can believe in'.

I so freaking hope this happens I can't even tell you.

Trump has to change everything Trump Tower related to say 'President BHO Avenue', are you kidding me?

That would be amazing.

I've posted this before, but the City doesn't change single block street names, and they're not changing the entirety of Fifth Avenue. Trump Tower's address won't change even if an honorary street sign is put up on the corner.

....and if you'll notice, my posts about candidates are never the cheerleading ones that some people write. I saw value in showing that our candidates aren't all from east/west coast liberal enclaves. When he didn't accomplish anything in the first debate, I dropped him.

It's done by request to the individual Community Boards. Here's an example:

https://www1.nyc.gov/html/mancb12/downloads/pdf/street%20co-naming%20guidelines.pdf

There are over 1600 Honorary street names. Here are a couple:

No address change happens. And I doubt that the midtown Manhattan Community Board Is going to approve a sign is going to put up an Obama sign on a street that he had nothing to do with (as opposed to, say, the street he lived on when he went to Columbia) just to give Trump a slap.

The one block street name could be included in the tourist tours of the city!

Imagine that slice of history being told to all tourists! A story of contrast between the best President and the worst ever.

I would definitely board a double decker for that!

That changes in Street Names, only to be done to honor those no longer living. To that I say, let's change it to John S McCain Jr Boulevard then...
