the brother who has held this position for years showed up in the paper let’s say under some scrutiny for some political privileges... and had to pay out what he owed the city. So now the brother is running who also happens to be the retired chief of police.

Democrats can be at a disadvantage because they expect political Marquess of Queensberry rules and so they scream "foul" when they get an eye gouge. That makes Republicans laugh and more determined to do what it takes to win.

Her father, an ardent anti-LGBT advocate, switched to run as a Democrat in local politics. He has his daughter trying it on the national level.
