Heres the full 12-page affidavit for Kellys arrest warrant.
UPDATE: Ive received an unconfirmed report that Joe Kelly has resigned his jail post and that the Kellys have moved out of Wests house. Im attempting to reach the sheriff on these and other issues.
UPDATE II: Sheriff David West confirms that Kelly has resigned and that the Kellys were moving out of his rent house, which they once had been planning to purchase. She said he had not requested the resignation. He didnt do anything wrong, West said. He just felt it was best.
West, who retired as a state trooper to make the race for sheriff last year, said, Nothing shady was done here. He said hed spent a lifetime in law enforcement as has his father and brother. I havent done it this long to screw up now.
I asked West if Wynne police had been justified in making the arrest of Kelly, who he said had been a burglary victim in another city in the past. He said he couldnt make that judgment because he wasnt there. He did volunteer that people have a right to protect themselves. No one can say what she felt at the time of the incident, he said. Only she can.

Hatred makes these people unable to see anything beyond the red haze of rage.

(7,947 posts)Yeah, we can say, she felt racist hatred towards children, so much hatred that she threatened over and over to shoot them.
They were kids, raising money for their team. That's it. They were doing a good thing, and this sheriff, instead of pointing this out, instead affirms this racist person's violence as if the kids were really at fault.
He's reminiscent of those who said George Zimmerman was right to prowl around looking for someone to shoot, because "maybe he felt afraid."

The Arkansas incident illustrates why.

(15,316 posts)It's become a God Damned get out of jail free, you can do anything you fucking want, card.
You could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and then tell the cops you "felt threatened", and you could probably get off scot-free.
It's time to say; "fuck your feelings". Cops have been using this "I felt threatened" bullshit for decades. They're ALL fucking trained on it... just say you felt threatened and you can choke someone to death with zero criminal consequences.
It's no surprise that this sheriff pivoted to "feelings" so quickly and naturally.
