God has heard your thoughts & prayers & thinks they are fucking bullshit

GOD HAS HEARD YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS AND HE THINKS THEY ARE FUCKING BULLSHIT
by CHAS GILLESPIE

Hi. God here. I am contacting you in response to your prayers regarding the most recent and totally horrific mass shooting in a college/ high school/ elementary school/ bar/ nightclub/ park/ shopping mall/ concert/ movie theater/ parking lot/ church/ mosque/ synagogue. I have listened to your prayers, America, and I have come to the conclusion that they are cowardly, pointless, and shameful. Your prayers are not helping the victims or their families. Helping potential and actual gun violence victims is a bridge you could have crossed a long time ago, and you chose not to. You pray in order not to feel culpable in horrendous acts of violence. You pray in order to feel good. And for this, I say: fuck you.

I'd say Ben made a lot of sense.

Here's another (not sure who said it first):

"We are masters of our own fate".

some of those that reject God will always be there to mock us and our prayers and worship.

A lot of "religious" people believe god wants them to own guns. Including semi-automatics.
Other "religious" people believe in polygamy.
Other "religious" people believe they don't have to have vaccinations.
Other "religious" people believe trump is right when he spreads hatred to minorities and women.
Other "religious" people believe the earth is flat.
Other "religious" people believe we don't have to do anything about global warming because everything that happens or doesn't is "god's will".

So, you know what my belief is?

We have a choice: god, or the human race.

Because so far, we've done nothing to maintain a healthy ecosystem that will sustain our future lives. The polar caps are melting. Is that god's will, too????

If it is, your god is still just as nasty and evil as he was in the old testament, and you are a better person than he is. He doesn't deserve your faith.

it won't be to protect me from Christians, but from those who don't believe in Jesus Christ, or who reject him.

The kind of firearms policy that practically all truly civilized countries have had in place for some time.

Just something to contemplate in the future, in the aftermath of the next 20-50-100 mass shootings in this country. Pray for something meaningful: that you and your loved ones won't be victims.

Prayer, or not, most of us aren't. Does Chas Gillespie think that attacking Christians on the internet relieves him of the same culpability he projects on others?

Thoughts an prayers are an effort to comfort the survivors, and a way for people to cope with a tragedy.
