...of just how incredibly fucking fucked up the GOP is in comparison and how much better, how much more competent, the Democratic Party is, even in their darkest hour.
I really wished both parties served The People better than they already do, but my god. My fucking god.
I think Rubio was the only person who actually gave a speech which was effective. The rest of them, including Romney and Ryan, gave idiotic bromides only varying in their saccharine content. The two low-lights were when they had Chris Christie AKA ManShark on stage and, of course, East Clintwood.
At the closing of the convention, Boehner even broke into tears.
I can't imagine an American objectively looking at the rolling clusterfuck of confusion that was the 2012 Republican National Convention and thinking "Those guys, YEAH!".

(53,410 posts)Sorry, but I disagree with your assessment of Rubio. He's not old enough to be the wise old man barking gems of wisdom like they're written on stone tablets a-la-God. A little humility would go a long way for him. He is supposed to be a servant of and an spokesman for the people. Not a demi-god dictating the rules to humanity.

that's the way he sounds, his inflections.

Rubio, like Paul Ryan and Governor Crispy Creme, not to mention the rest of the Republican pack-of-jackasses, are not true conservatives. They are authoritarians, dictator-wannabes. They are bullies, and need to be dealt with as such.

(53,410 posts)Romney and Ryan don't want to debate Obama and Biden. Not unless they're guaranteed to be treated 'fairly' a-la-teabag party where they can approve of all the questions asked.

(19,326 posts)should be any and everyone's "first clue" that the GOP is, well,
pretty FUBAR ... of course as a "last gasp" swan song, it was
perfect in a way too.
Quite painful to watch though.

(23,864 posts)I was listening to him while doing something in another room and it was so weird, I couldn't really make out what was going on- except that something seemed horribly, horribly wrong. Rubio came on and seemed not to miss a beat going into his spiel. So it didn't have as much impact if one was just listening, IMO. But most people were watching and I can't imagine anyone being able to concentrate after the stack of crazy cakes Eastwood put on the table. So, agreed!

(14,459 posts)The Obama administration is like a well-run Republican Administration. Because the Repubs have been degenerating so fast and so much, this sort of thing is like an anchor dragging us to the bottom of the ocean...and all we can say is, "...It's not as bad as it could be."
"Not with a bang, but a whimper..."

(10,893 posts)Him talking to that empty chair was priceless. You'd think that this was a Daily Show or Onion parody.
But man, that entire Republican Circus this week was nothing short of a lie-fest. It's pathetic when your party's policies are at odds with so many people's interests that you have to fool people to vote for you. Even Jeb resorted to the "stop blaming my brother" card, even though Shrub II's administration is the culprit for our massive debt and our wars.
