Portland rally: Proud Boys vow to march each month after biggest protest of Trump era

Oregon city sees sporadic violence and a dozen arrests as Donald Trump and Proud Boys chairman denounce anti-fascists

Portland saw its largest far-right demonstration of the Trump era on Saturday, as 500 rightwingers traveled from around the country to march back and forth across the city’s bridges, and briefly occupy a patch of its waterfront.

By making extensive accommodations for the unpermitted rightwing protest, including close police escorts, concrete barriers, and reopening a bridge to allow them to leave the downtown area, Portland authorities succeeded in preventing head-on confrontations between it and a much larger counter-protest.

The far right “end domestic terrorism” protest, organized by leaders in the “western chauvinst” Proud Boys fraternity, saw Trump supporters rub shoulders with more radical groups, including Three Percenters, a “patriot movement” militia group, and American Guard, who the Anti-Defamation League described as “hardcore white supremacists”.

In a statement after the rally, the Proud Boys chairman Enrique Tarrio appeared to be promising to hold the city to ransom. On the group’s Telegram channel, a link was sent out to a Gateway Pundit story that quoted the chairman promising to come to Portland once a month, and saying: “Sooner or later, [Portland mayor Ted Wheeler] will run out of money and his counterparts in government will no longer take him seriously. The path forward for Mayor Wheeler is simple, free your city from the grip of Antifa, take direct and meaningful action.”

1. I saw that posted as a goal - to suck $$ out of Portland coffers with their hatefests

The Proud Boys "march" was unpermitted yesterday.

Obvious solution is to never allow them to hold the city hostage again by arresting them pronto if they try this "unpermitted" shit. The 1st few times will be ugly between the fucking Nazis and police but it's the only way to shut them down.

And ffs, don't let them cross any bridges again so they're dispersed throughout the community.

2. Doesn't Oregon have a National Guard contingent? Don't they have weapons?

This is a much clearer "invasion" than anything happening on the border. Confront, subdue and arrest these violent criminals and impose max fines and jail terms. OR---

---continue to drain public funds to "accomodate" the thugs.

3. If they go back, people of Portland will likely ignore them...again.

The MSM will contrive reasons for us to be afraid and someone in Washington will propose a new law restricting the right to peacefully protest. They want to manufacture a reason to criminalize dissent.

5. Portland's main problem: police officers who are themselves

part of the white extremist coalition and who have been instrumental in aiding and abetting the fascists to come there in the first place with promises of protection and a requisite number of beatdowns against counter-protests.

Local investigative reporting recently revealed damning emails between commander of riot squad and white extremist leaders. Mayor has a major PR problem, not to mention a systemic police problem, on his hands with this latest revelation.

All this is on the heels of local citizen pressure forcing PD to issue arrest warrants for white extremist Patriot Prayer members for inciting a riot in May. Yet, PP leader was still not picked up on warrant as of Friday, the day before this latest protest, when he finally "agreed" to turn himself in, for which he was promptly released on bail despite a repeated history of being a menace to the community.

Patriot Prayer is known to have disproportionately high numbers of members hailing from law enforcement, active military, and border patrol.

While Proud Boys (downplayed to MSM as an "innocent" male fraternity) and former Alex Jones henchman Joe Biggs were touted as the "organizers" (frontmen) of yesterday's farce, Patriot Prayer is generally understood to be the behind-the-scenes heavy lifters and the "bosses" of when and what goes down in Portland.

Their latest shift in focus (now calling white extremist rallies "End Domestic Terrorism" events) signals a falling-in-lockstep with a specific Russian Internet campaign, ongoing since at least 2017, that claims antifa, i.e. the ANTI-FASCISTS, is a "terrorist organization." Tracking of this messaging across Russian servers shows this campaign to be top priority for the Kremlin, receiving the most pushes above all others.

Putin finally gave tRump permission to move on this initiative, as evidenced by the pResident-in-Grief's tepid tweet yesterday saying he was "considering" naming ANTI-fascists as domestic terrorists for being opposed to the actual domestic terrorists---the highly organized and heavily armed white extremists.

Welcome to Wonderland, Alice.

7. Tarrio identifies as Afro-Cuban, he's a prominent Florida GOP figure.

Tarrio and other people of color at the far-right rallies claim institutional racism no longer exists in America. In their view, blacks are to blame for any lingering inequality because they are dependent on welfare, lack strong leadership, and believe Democrats who tell them “You’re always going to be broke. You’re not going to make it in society because of institutional racism,” as one mixed-race man put it.

The darling of the Republican Party in Florida, Enrique Tarrio, the AfroCuban president of the Miami chapter of the alt-right and white nationalist organization Proud Boy, worked with and was photographed with Gov Scott, Roger Stone, Miami GOP Chair Diaz, and Congressman Diaz-Balart.

8. Proud Boys is the only far-right domestic terrorist organization

to sport a few token people of color. This is as a result of its origins as a misogynistic "fraternity" whose primary activities in its early years was to get drunk and bash women. At that time, all ethnicities of males were welcome, as long as they were willing to take a vow abstaining from masturbation (which the group viewed as a weakness because "real men" simply take what they want when they feel the need, rather than wasting time servicing themselves, or so they claimed).

However, as the so-called "alt-right" movement heated up, Proud Boys wanted desperately to belong and made tepid moves to appear "political" via their leader Gavin McInnes' connections to certain Rethuglicans.
However, their efforts to appear relevant only resulted in the group becoming mercilessly labeled as "alt-lite."

Inevitably, the group stepped up its game and added violence as a hazing prerequisite and "Western civilization supremacy" as an ideology. In that way, they finally got the white extremist groups to at least stop making fun of them.

However, it wasn't until some of Proud Boys' white members began training (for a fee) with a California neo-Nazi group that the word went out to cut the group some slack.

Since the time the "grand coalition" of white extremist groups occurred (shortly before Charlottesville), the real leaders of these terrorist organizations have found it useful to build up the Proud Boys' egos by putting those dingalings on the frontlines to avoid arrests among their own (and, yes, they also still privately make fun of the largely out-of-shape, tubby Proud Boys, even as they've found them to be very "useful idiots," indeed).

The fact that Proud Boys has a few (very few) token men of color makes them even more attractive to the white extremists, who frequently claim, "Look over here. See, we're not racist," as everyone strains to find the one black man in a crowd of 500.

The 49-year-old McInnes, whose worth is currently valued at $10 million dollars, recently resigned (supposedly) as head of the Proud Boys in a move to protect the money he's pocketed as a result of Rethuglican "speaking engagements" (eh-hmmm, whatever).

The move to make Tarrio the acting head of Proud Boys in McInnes' absence aligns with the edict of the more powerful extremist groups to make it appear that their publicly visible frontline bitch boys aren't racist, and by extension themselves. Meanwhile, Tarrio gets to ride the money train for playing the role.

Does that about wrap it up for you?
