Mark Halperin accusers blast new book deal: 'Men like him don't change'

WASHINGTON — Mark Halperin has inked a new book deal about political strategy in the Trump era and was blasted by women who accused the disgraced NBC commentator of sexual misconduct.

-snip-

“This is appalling and so upsetting,” journalist and author Emily Miller told The Post.

Miller was harassed by Halperin when they worked together at ABC News and she was his junior.

“Men like him don’t change. He spent decades using his position of power in the media to sexually assault women. He hasn’t even apologized to his victims!” Miller said.

I left out the part where the New York Post tries to blame Democratic strategists who participated in the book. Of course, the Post neglects to mention or sully the names of Republican strategists.

Will he end up on all the talk shows promoting his book and initiating his "rehabilitation tour?"

Ignoring him specifically for the moment, it does open up a big issue of whether and how some of these men do make amends and might be accepted in a comeback. To even consider the issue, I think it necessary to categorize the types of behavior and damage done and not "lump." Clearly, a Halperin or a Matt Lauer or a Charlie Rose are among the more extreme cases, though, at least criminally less so than a Harvey Weinstein. Then on the other "opposite" end are the more benign cases--perhaps "politically-inflated or created"...

I see us making no real progress in defining the issue for society when we have a credibly accused rapist and serial sexual assaulter in the White House.

because “sexual assaulter” can be in the eyes of the beholder. Rump’s behavior is fully accepted, even applauded by some, whereas Biden’s patting of a shoulder in a group setting is a sexual invitation to others.
