One has, from time to time, pondered...

...the plight of Roman citizens in the immediate aftermath of their downfall, with reminiscences of a more splendid era diminishing exponentially as the last vestiges of Empire crumbled into bickering bedlam, and how they survived in such turbulent times.

I have a horrible feeling we are about to find out…

Particularly the era following Henry VIII's death. Mary I, Edward VI, and Elizabeth I and their fighting and dirty tricks on each other, getting thousands of soldiers killed, all claiming they had their god and righteousness on their side.

Every day the shame that I feel by being a member of this vicious little species grows.
