El Paso shooting widower receives new car after old one stolen following wife's funeral

The original SUV sustained damage to its windshield, hood and roof after it was reportedly stolen and wrecked, according to tow truck driver Eduardo Moreno with El Paso Towing. Moreno towed the vehicle back to Basco’s home for free, after recognizing his name from media coverage.

Basco told the towing company that a pressure washing machine, which had been inside a trailer parked next to the SUV, was also stolen, according to Moreno.

Casa Ford Dealership stepped up to replace Basco’s SUV with one that’s the same color as the original he shared with his wife. Basco also received a trailer from Desert Haven Trailers and an installed hitch.

“He’s obviously still very torn up because of the tragedy that occurred, so he’s extremely grateful. Honestly, from my perspective, [he’s] a humble man who doesn’t want a lot of attention and he’s received a lot, so we just want to offer this," said Ronnie Lowenfield, co-owner of the dealership.

I hoped that a local car dealer would step forward.

Sometimes we need to be reminded that human beings do possess kindness.

from Starman (1984)...."We are interested in your species...You are a strange species, not like any other, and you would be surprised how many there are. Intelligent but savage. Shall I tell you what I find beautiful about you? You are at your very best when things are worst"

its from a scene near the end of the movie. Quite emotional. Check out the film, I thought it was a well done Sci Fi movie. Didn't rely on flashy effects and overbearing score. Under-rated movie in my opinion.

can always be counted on to come to the rescue. How much misery can one man take? I hope KARMA is swift and just punishing whoever stole his vehicle.

May he have time to grieve with no further setbacks, without feeling alone. His new extended family seems to be taking care of him with gentleness and respect.

Kudos to those businesses that stood up and helped out. Nobody should have to suffer like this. I can only imagine how torn up I would be if my wife who is Hispanic was murdered so senselessly and taken from me.

to help him. I bet they get more in business than this SUV cost them. But even if they don't, I bet the owner was glad to help him.

I hope many blessings come his way.

Casa Ford - it won't heel Mr. Basco's heart but it helps to make things easier to manage. Can't help but shed some tears everytime I read about him.

Glad there's some Big hearts around him to lend a hand.

The roof damage is what seems odd. Perhaps a very large person got up there and jumped up and down on it. That sounds likes something some punk would do.

I find it hard to believe it was a random act. I think he used this vehicle to pull a trailer behind his car with a pressure washer to wash cars in dealer lots. I live next to Casa Ford and I do believe that the gift was sincere. That's the way El Paso is. If they think we will live in fear of them they are wrong. I'll bet the feds are sifting through 8 chan as we s It broke my heart whe the tow drivers wife reported this on gace book. Killed his wife and tried to take away his livlihood for being of Mexian ancestry like most of El Paso.
