We learn in med school that if someone comes to the emergency room calling themselves the King of Israel and the second coming of God, that patient is either high on drugs or is having a psychotic break and needs to be promptly evaluated with a tox screen and psychiatric consult.
In reference to Trump's tweet this morning in which he quotes an evangelical referring to him (Trump) as the King of Israel and the second coming of God, among other lofty phrases.

Lets ask Barabbas
Collimator
(1,639 posts). . .Who has since learned to question the text, I would like to point out that "Abba" was the Aramaic version of "Daddy". The word, "Bar", we know from "Bar Mitzvah" means "son".
Therefore the name, "Barabbas" is the general equivalent of "Son of the Father." I don't mean to get into an in-depth study of Biblical scholarship here, but when Barabbas was let go--according to the story--one "Son of the Father" was released while another man claiming to be the "Son of the Father" was not.
This is just a small sample of how jumbled up the story is when examined critically.

(6,169 posts)when he seized control of the religion Jesus started.
Up to that point it was called the Church of the Desposnyi, and it was run by Jesus' relatives and their descendants.
Constantine rebranded the church as the ROMAN Catholic Church. Catholic meaning universal. He also modified the doctrine to suit him.
He knew the Roman Empire would eventually fall, and he wanted to create a center of power and wealth that would be independent of government.
So, a lot of what we see in the Catholic and Christian Churches today is based on Constantine and not Jesus.
As the church evolved into a great power center, the original message of Jesus became less and less relevant to the needs of those who ran the church.
The same thing happened to Buddhism many centuries earlier when King Ashoka rebranded the teachings of Buddha and modified them to suit his needs.
I think that's where Constantine got the idea.
Essentially what we had was a Satanic takeover of two great spiritual movements that transformed them into religious movements that were more concerned with the wants and needs of the ones who controlled the religions than the spiritual needs of the people who followed them.
And now we have religious types proclaiming another Satan, Donald Trump, as God.
For Devils, and Demons, that is their truth.
But then they are driven by fear, anger, hatred, and violence so Trump looks good to them.
That man has no love in his heart.

(1,639 posts)You know, I continually misquote a Buddhist dictum by saying: "If you want to understand life-- chop water, carry wood."
Of course, the saying is ". . . chop wood, carry water." But then I laugh at my mistake and joke that my misquote is the eskimo version.

(11,885 posts)When he finds out something really bad is about to happen exposing him. We've seen this many times already. More Putin ties, more corruption and lies, more proof he's gotten us into a recession? Or could it be ties to Epstein, Putin, and Barr about his death? Or is this all just an act to use a insanity plea? Whatever it is about to come out it's got him desperate, and panicking now.

To convince me that this is all planned by him, you would have to point out times (any time) when he seemed reasonable and cogent. You can't do that.

But a coworker who is 70, an evangelical (repuglican) and a former social worker who does have a degree of compassion and some familiarity with mental illness.
So as she was leaving early for church, I read her the quote you posted from the doctor, asking if she agreed. She did. Then I continued...in reference to trumps tweet ..and she said "enough"
She knew I got her with that one!
We generally don't discuss politics because of our opposing views But I couldn't stop myself because I knew she'd agree with the statement and I wanted to give her food for thought (as she headed off to church!) She knows I think she's a good person but a poor misguided soul, misguided by her church; and that if I wasn't Jewish, I'd think 45 was the antichrist!
Thanks for this post! I had some fun from it.
