Top 10 Conservative Idiots #7-10: Springtime For Twitler Edition

Top 10 Conservative Idiots #7-10: Springtime For Twitler Edition

Welcome back to the Top 10 Conservative Idiots! What’s up Rutgers? We made it, we are in Jersey continuing our college tour! This is our first time in Jersey, too! How about that? You know where can I get a good Italian meal around here? And is there a pizza and/or pasta joint around here that isn’t run by a mob boss? I kid, I kid. This is the Garden State, I know which state I’m in! Do we have time for the thing? Yeah so I love a good beef. And 30 years after the premiere there’s people *STILL* fighting over which is better – Friends or Seinfeld? Me personally I’m for whichever one gets me the best GIFs and clips that we use here. Currently I’d say Seinfeld. But the other beef that’s happening right now is with chicken. Yes, chicken. Now that Chik Fil A has been dethroned as the undisputed king of greasy fast food, they are mad! So where does one go for a good chicken sandwich? There’s plenty of options and we don’t like to plug here or take sides… but really, fuck Chik Fil A am I right? Yeah they didn’t learn their lesson after the Pulse massacre and still endorse bullshit organizations like Focus On The Family and the Family Research Council – which as we all know by now are hardcore Trump supporters! So yeah as long as you support this crap, you are the enemy! I’ll side with Popeye’s thank you very much! Oh and by the way, I am actually eating a Popeye’s sandwich right now! Yeah I don’t give a shit anymore, so fuck it, I’m eating this sandwich and it is good! OK that’s enough of the intro. We have a lot of idiocy to get to but first John Oliver is back and he enlists the help of Larry David and Wanda Sykes to point out bias in medicine stemming back from the 1800s:

There’s a lot of racism in the news this week, but… that said… Ladies and gentlemen, returning to the top slot this week is the guy who we currently call president, Donald J. Trump (1)! Bravo, take a bow! So what did he do to earn the top spot this week? Well he got representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Talib flat-out banned from taking a state trip to Isreal, and really would we expect much from the guy who claims that he’s not racist? I wouldn’t! Taking the second slot this week is yet another racist douchebag, Iowa’s Steve King (2) and he might have said the most racist thing yet, and he’s said a lot of extremely racist stuff! In the third slot this week is the Proud Boys (3). Do we really need a bunch of white supremacists marching down Portland’s main bridge singing songs? NO!!! Taking the number 4 seed this week is Jeffrey Epstein (4) and we are going to play a game of where in the world is his former mistress Ghislaine Maxwell? Well, she could be anywhere at this point. At slot number 5 is our weekly investigative piece Top 10 Investigates (5), and is the President Of The United States inciting violence with his hateful rhetoric? The answer is yes, but is also way more complicated than that! At slot number 6 this week is of course our weekly visit to the Holy Church Of The Top 10 in “Holy Shit”, and should Louisiana require all schools to have “In God We Trust” in them? Our resident pastor will weigh in on the issue! Taking the 7th slot is an all new “Beating A Dead Horse”. It wouldn’t be a Quentin Tarantino movie without something controversial happening – and with his recent release “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”, people are wondering – what’s his beef with legendary kung fu master Bruce Lee? We will find out! In the 8th slot this week, we have an all new “This Fucking Guy” and this week after a Twitter blunder that could land him in jail for labor violations, we profile Dave Portnoy, the CEO of Barstool Sports (8) and we knew there was a reason why didn’t like this guy. In the number 9 (NEIN!!!) slot this week we have a new “People Are Dumb”, because of course they are! And finally the latest edition of Keeping Up With The Candidates (10) is going to Colorado to hang with presidential candidate turned senate candidate John Hickenlooper! Plus we have some live music from the great Cage The Elephant! Really, buy their new album “Social Cues” or you’re no friend of this program. Enjoy! And as always don’t forget the key!

Donald Trump
[br]
[br]

When you have a president who’s a social media celebrity like our current president Donald J. Trump, you would expect them to use their powers for good right? Well, 3 years into this abomination of an administration, would you really expect us to answer “yes” to that question? The answer is a resounding HELL NO!!! And you know that Trump’s biggest enemies right now are “The Squad” which consists of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MA), and Rep. Ayanna Presley (MI). But since Trump has chosen to use his powers for bad – two of those members of “The Squad” were barred from going to Isreal over a Twitter spat. Yeah that happened. Because the whole world is turning to the dark side and the leaders who are getting elected are colossal dicks.

(CNN)President Donald Trump is laying a trap and Israel is walking right into it. Breaking with accepted norms, Trump blatantly pressured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ban Democratic Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from entering the country. Now, Israel says it will do just that. Big mistake.

It's difficult for small countries to ignore pressure from Washington, but Netanyahu has shown no hesitation in repeatedly aligning himself with Trump. In the short run, Israel (and Netanyahu, currently running a tough race for re-election) is benefiting from strengthening ties with the powerful President of the United States. But Netanyahu is playing a risky game, unquestioningly positioning Israel on the side of one the most unpopular US presidents in recent memory and helping Trump to deliberately erode bipartisan backing for Israel in the United States.
In the process, he is also undercutting Israel's democratic commitment to vigorous, free and open debate.

On Thursday, Trump tweeted, "It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds." It's clear the congresswomen have deeply unfavorable views about Israel, and Omar has made comments that dovetail with anti-Semitism, but she has retracted those. Trump's accusation is another move in his effort to use Israel as a politically divisive domestic issue.

Hours after Trump's tweet, Israel's deputy foreign minister, Tzipi Hotovely, announced, "We will not allow anyone who denies our right to exist in the world to enter the state." On Friday, the drama took a new turn when Israel reversed course. Officials said they would allow Tlaib to visit her elderly grandmother in the West Bank after Tlaib requested permission in a letter stating: "I will respect any restrictions and will not promote boycotts against Israel during my visit." But later, on Twitter, Tlaib said she would not go "under these oppressive conditions."

Shut up!!! It’s pretty obvious by now that Trump is a dick and so is Netanyahu. I mean it’s almost like these guys wake up every morning thinking about how much they can be a dick. Of course it won’t change the minds of their supporters at this point. But here’s where Trump can be the colossal dick who we all know and loathe at this point. But I do love the response from Tlaib’s grandmother:

Rashida Tlaib’s grandmother cursed President Donald Trump after he tweeted that she should be happy that her granddaughter was not coming to visit her in the West Bank.

“Rep. Tlaib wrote a letter to Israeli officials desperately wanting to visit her grandmother. Permission was quickly granted, whereupon Tlaib obnoxiously turned the approval down, a complete setup. The only real winner here is Tlaib’s grandmother. She doesn’t have to see her now!” Trump tweeted on Friday night.

“Trump tells me I should be happy Rashida is not coming,” Muftia Tlaib told Reuters from her home in Beit Ur Al-Fauqa over the weekend. “May God ruin him.”

Tlaib and fellow Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., were barred from making a planned visit to Israel on Sunday because of their declared support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against the Jewish state. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to apply his country’s 2017 law, which bans foreigners who publicly support Israel boycotts, to the two congresswomen.

That is a good question sir! What is wrong with Trump? Well where do we begin because I don’t have that kind of time! So why was Trump so quick to pressure Isreal to cancel this state sponsored visit / personal vacation? Don’t boo yet but the answer is very deeply troubling and there is honestly no low these murderous thugs who are taking over the world won’t stoop to.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., says she's canceling her visit to Israel and the West Bank.

Israel's interior ministry announced Friday that it would allow Tlaib to enter the country as a private citizen to visit her aging grandmother, after it banned her and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., from going on a political trip amid pressure from President Trump.

In a statement Friday morning, Tlaib said that she "decided to not travel to Palestine and Israel at this time. Visiting my grandmother under these oppressive conditions meant to humiliate me would break my grandmother's heart."

Israel's shift regarding Tlaib, whose parents are Palestinian immigrants to the U.S. and who has close relatives in the West Bank, came hours after Israel banned her and Omar, apparently in response to tweets from Trump saying that the two "hate Israel & all Jewish people" and that Israel "would show great weakness" by letting them visit.
https://www.npr.org/2019/08/16/751674684/israel-says-it-will-grant-visa-to-rep-rashida-tlaib-reversing-earlier-ban

Oh wait, save your boos. Because this gets worse. So much worse. In case you can’t think that Trump could stoop to all time new lows, wait until you see the reaction coming from Trump himself. Can we just all collectively block him from our Twitter feeds from now on? I think it would be good for our collective conscious:

Amid news that Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib would not accept the conditions set by the Israeli government in order to visit family members living in the West Bank, President Donald Trump used Twitter to comment on it.

In a series of tweets, the president said that Tlaib's letter to the Israeli government and subsequent decline of their offer to visit was "a complete setup." He also praised Israel's leaders for "acting appropriately" when responding to the congresswoman's request.

"Israel was very respectful & nice to Rep. Rashida Tlaib, allowing her permission to visit her 'grandmother.' As soon as she was granted permission, she grandstanded & loudly proclaimed she would not visit Israel. Could this possibly have been a setup? Israel acted appropriately!," Trump wrote.

The president went on to declare that the only winner in the situation was Tlaib's grandmother who "doesn't have to see her now."

"Like it or not, Tlaib and Omar are fast becoming the face of the Democrat Party. Cortez (AOC) is fuming, not happy about this," Trump added.

Steve King
[br]
[br]

We don’t need to play a game of “Is It Racist” because we already know that it’s racist and that’s a very sad thing in America. Right now everyone knows that Steve King is one of the biggest racists in Congress and he definitely does not try to hide it. But not only that, add a heaping dose of misogyny and you’ve got today’s GOP in one single candidate. The difference? He says it out loud! The rest of them just only think it! Thank you audience! I mean I am in New Jersey. So just how racist was Steve King’s blatant racism? So much that it will be very difficult for the GOP to do their standard brand of damage control on this one.

On Wednesday, Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, catapulted into the news again after musing that humanity might not exist if not for rape and incest. These cruel and highly offensive remarks were in service of the argument that even sexually assaulted women should be denied abortions. But King’s comments were just the latest reminder of the way sexism and white supremacy so often go hand in hand.

Whether in Europe or in the United States, white supremacists and white nationalists are obsessed with falling birth rates, and by extension they are obsessed with the recruitment — and total control — of women’s wombs.

In 2017, when the far-right, anti-Islam and anti-immigrant Dutch politician Geert Wilders was polling in second place in the Netherlands’ national elections, Breitbart’s European sister site Voice of Europe tweeted an image of Wilders plugging a hole in a wall labeled “Western Civilization.” King approvingly retweeted that image, noting that “Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny. We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.

King doubled down on this sentiment after an outcry, telling CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day": "You cannot rebuild your civilization with somebody else's babies. You've got to keep your birth rate up, and that you need to teach your children your values. ... In doing so, you can grow your population, you can strengthen your culture, and you can strengthen your way of life."

Holy shit!!!! I mean, yeah holy shit!!! That is quite possibly one of the most racist things you can say outside of “I’m a racist”. So Steve King basically admitted what all white supremacists are thinking and said out loud what most of them say in private. And again the only difference? He’s an elected representative! He’s not your racist uncle who yells at Fox News all day. But this racism goes deep, so deep and it’s gonna take a long time to wash off that burn.

The party of “family values” is at it again. On Wednesday, Republican congressman Steve King, tried to justify banning abortions even in cases of incest and rape by arguing that rape and incest are good, actually. Without them humans would go extinct!

“What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?” he opined at a breakfast meeting in Iowa. “Considering all the wars and all the rape and pillage that has taken place ... I know I can’t certify that I was not a part of a product of that”.

Republicans have not exactly been thrilled by the publicity King’s rape remarks have generated – particularly as it wasn’t so long ago that he caused controversy by arguing “white nationalist” shouldn’t be considered an offensive term. King keeps embarrassing his colleagues and many of them are now pushing for him to be replaced. Liz Cheney, for example, the party’s third highest-ranking member, tweeted that King’s comments were “appalling and bizarre … it’s time for him to go.”

Similarly, Paul Mitchell, a Republican from Michigan, said that he had enough of King’s “destructive commentary” and encouraged people to contribute to his opponent in the Iowa primaries. “In my opinion Steve King does not reflect the values or principles of our conference,” Mitchell stressed.

Yes, please! Now the question remains – should Steve King apologize for his dickish behavior and extremely controversial remarks? Well here’s the difference between being a conservative and being a liberal – conservatives don’t apologize for anything. Liberals spend most of their time apologizing for their own behavior and the behavior of their conservative douchebag counterparts. And Steve King is no different.

Rep. Steve King of Iowa, who recently received national backlash for comments supporting white supremacy and white nationalists, said on Thursday that he wasn’t sorry and that he would run for reelection in 2020.

“I have nothing to apologize for,” King said during a recording of Iowa Public Television’s “Iowa Press,” after the host, David Yepsen, asked whether King was sorry for anything he’d said, according to the The Des Moines Register. The episode will air Friday evening in Iowa.

King earlier this year came under fire after he questioned, during an interview with The New York Times, why the terms “white supremacist” and “white nationalist” had become offensive. The congressman since has repeatedly tried to distance himself from the comments and claimed he was misquoted.

Many of King’s fellow Republicans denounced his comments, including both of Iowa’s senators, Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley. Several of King’s colleagues went so far as to call for him to resign, as did the state’s largest paper, the Register, and the Sioux City Journal, a Western Iowa newspaper that is located in King’s 4th Congressional District.
https://www.politico.com/story/2019/02/21/steve-king-no-apology-racist-comments-1179706

Dude, seriously when Charles Grassley denounces your toxic behavior that’s pretty fucking toxic! And you know the sad thing? He’ll get reelected. Because the people in Steve King’s Iowa district are a bunch of racists who have elected and reelected him a total of – wait for it – 9 times! Yes, 9 times! And he’ll most likely get elected a 10th time. Because, owning the libs.

As you can see above, I was there when Steve King (R-Klavern) first decided to let his freak flag fully fly. Since that memorable afternoon in Cleveland, he's been re-elected twice by the befuddled goobers of Iowa's Fourth Congressional District. And now, as The New York Times ably illustrates, Steve King has gone full Afrikaans.

Mr. King, in the interview, said he was not a racist. He pointed to his Twitter timeline showing him greeting Iowans of all races and religions in his Washington office. (The same office once displayed a Confederate flag on his desk.) At the same time, he said, he supports immigrants who enter the country legally and fully assimilate because what matters more than race is “the culture of America” based on values brought to the United States by whites from Europe. “White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” Mr. King said. “Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?”

(Narrator: That's pretty racist.)

I know we're all supposed to be in a tizzy because a new congresswoman from Michigan used a bad word, and because Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had fun in college and advocates a return to Ike Eisenhower's tax plans, but this revolting lump of hot, bigoted mess has been elected to the Congress nine freaking times. His constituents are racists or they are idiots. (A third alternative is not available at this time.)

The Proud Boys
[br]
[br]

Let’s lighten things up and talk about everyone’s favorite alt right lib-owning fight club, the Proud Boys, shall we? Yeah they’re back again, sadly. In Portland again. You’d think the people and businesses of Portland would have enough of this group and their madness after the 800 other times they’ve been involved in parades and fights not only in Portland but around the country. But here’s the absolutely scary thing – the Proud Boys are trying to designate Antifa as a terrorist group. And I don’t need to point out my theory that Gavin McInnes pulls the strings on both groups – he’s a bad dude. But here’s what happened.

The much-anticipated protest in Portland on August 17 that was instigated by the Proud Boys, a national right-wing extremist group, has dissipated with minimal engagement from counter-protesters.

The day's events began around 9:30 am, with a crowd of left-wing counter-protesters congregating at Tom McCall Waterfront Park to make costumes and plan their actions for the day. Some of these anti-fascist (or antifa) protesters arrived dressed in all black. Others dressed in banana costumes or wore unicorn horns.

Shortly after 11 am, a group of Proud Boys and associated right-wing activists marched across the Morrison Bridge from Southeast Portland, arriving in Waterfront Park just north of the bridge. The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) appeared to have anticipated their arrival, having staged lines of armored officers and cement barriers between the Proud Boys and the left-wing groups, who were gathered in the park just south of the Morrison Bridge.

While individual protesters later clashed, the bulk of the two main groups never met. Instead, the PPB allowed the Proud Boys to march east over the Hawthorne Bridge, which until that point had been completely closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. By the time antifa protesters—who, unlike the right-wing protesters, were not allowed by the PPB to cross the Hawthorne Bridge—reached the east side of the Willamette River, most of the gathered Proud Boys had boarded several buses and left, heading west over the Morrison Bridge.

Springtime………….. for TWITLER!!!! Oh and if that’s not enough, as much as Portland rejected the Proud Boys, like a bad weed, they are going to return for more. No, this is something that nobody asked for, or wanted. We don’t want these armed Nazi douchebags marching through our streets. All while the heat is off of them and onto the group protesting these dipshits.

The far-right Proud Boys claimed success and vowed to conduct monthly protests in Portland after a weekend "End Domestic Terrorism" rally in Oregon's largest city drew hundreds to condemn anti-fascist "antifa" activists.

Rose City Antifa, Portland’s anti-fascist activist organization, countered with its own demonstration against the Proud Boys, an all-male extremist group condemned by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its ties to white nationalism.

Portland Police Lieutenant Tina Jones said 1,200 people representing both sides took to downtown streets and that least 13 arrests were made. Authorities were mostly able to keep the conflicting groups apart through a series of protests and counterprotests lasting about nine hours.

Six people suffered minor injuries, Jones said.

"We know there is the possibility that assaults or other crimes occurred outside of the view of officers," police said in a statement. "Officers and detectives will be spending the hours and days ahead writing reports, conducting interviews and pursuing investigations.".
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/08/18/antifa-proud-boys-claim-success-after-portland-protest/2045313001/

Oh sure it’s not a Proud Boys rally if there’s no arrests or injuries associated with it. But the prospect of labeling Antifa as a terrorist organization is absolutely terrifying. Even more so than a bunch of armed dangerous lunatics who don’t even fill out the proper paperwork needed for a permit for the rallies they’re holding. Labeling a group a terrorist organization is *NOTHING* to fuck with, but as we have seen with Trump time and time again, he doesn’t care.

On Saturday, Portland grappled yet again with clashes between far-right Proud Boy activists and anti-fascist supporters. According to police, six people reported minor injuries and at least 13 were arrested. Portland has been the scene of several high-profile confrontations over the past few years which have raised the profile of both groups, especially the loose community known as antifa — short for anti-fascists.

Speaking to reporters about white supremacist violence in the United States earlier in August, President Donald Trump noted that “antifa” and “other kinds of supremacy” were similarly concerning. Trump’s dislike for antifa is well-known, as the activists have taken on an increasingly visible role since his election.

Antifa supporters protested his inauguration, participated in the February 2017 University of California, Berkeley, demonstrations against alt-right speaker Milo Yiannopoulos, confronted alt-right supporters in Boston and most recently assaulted conservative journalist Andy Ngo during a clash with far-right activists in Portland, Oregon. At the end of July, Trump mused that perhaps antifa should be designated a terrorist organization, alongside groups like the vicious gang MS-13.

How and what to label acts of organized violence in the U.S. has taken on a more urgent feel given the recent mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, allegedly carried out by a man with virulently anti-immigrant views. But the debate over how to classify antifa has been percolating ever since the 2017 violent clash between right-wing and white supremacist marchers and antifa counterprotesters in Charlottesville, Virginia.
https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/portland-braces-proud-boys-protests-here-s-what-trump-doesn-ncna1041441

Yeah your average Proud Boys rally is pretty much like that. But that is simply terrifying – the name “Antifa” was given to people who are protesting facists. By instructing the FBI and CIA to treat Antifa as a terrorist group, we’re all sitting ducks! But here’s the thing while Trump may be winding down his first term, his most hardcore fan base in the Proud Boys are just getting started and things are going to get very ugly in the next few years.

Over the past year, the extremist, far-right group the Proud Boys has undergone what appears to have been a dramatic implosion. Gavin McInnes, the group’s bombastic, ironically mustachioed founder (and the co-founder of Vice magazine), resigned late last year. More recently, the group was one of the targets of social media platforms’ efforts to combat hate speech; mainstream sites like YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook banned a number of Proud Boys-related accounts, thus significantly curbing its ability to attract new recruits. The embarrassing leak of a sloppily redacted Proud Boys charter, written by attorney and member Jason Van Dyke, only served to further heighten tensions within the group, leading to members jockeying for power.

For a few months, it seemed as if the Proud Boys were set to be relegated to little more than a footnote in history, yet another extremist group undone by petty squabbling and internecine bullshit. And then, on June 29th, something shifted. Andy Ngo, a self-styled journalist-activist and far-right provocateur, tweeted that he had just been violently assaulted by “antifa,” or anti-fascist protesters, at a Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer rally in Portland, Oregon. “Attacked by antifa. Bleeding,” he wrote. “They stole my camera equipment. No police until after.” He also retweeted a report from the Portland police force alleging that the counterprotesters had dumped a quick-drying cement milkshake on activists’ heads. (This claim turned out to be untrue; the milkshake was actually made of coconut milk.)

It didn’t matter that the claim turned out to be untrue, and that the beverages in question were actually vegan treats; nor did it matter that Ngo, as a BuzzFeed profile of him later argued, has built a successful freelance journalist career on the demonization of leftist activists. Immediately, parties on both sides of the political aisle condemned the attack on Ngo and called for the anti-fascist protesters, or antifa, to be held accountable. (Ultimately, three counterprotesters at the rally were arrested; one was charged with assault, while the other two were charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.) President Donald Trump, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, and even Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden unequivocally condemned the attack. Last month, Cruz called for the FBI to investigate antifa during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, in so doing comparing them to the KKK. And following the El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, shootings, President Trump issued a statement saying he was “concerned about the rise of any group of hate … whether it’s white supremacy, whether it’s any other kind of supremacy, whether it’s antifa, whether it’s any group of hate” — the last part an allusion to the Dayton shooter, whose apparent leftist leanings on Twitter immediately prompted the far right to link the attack to antifa.

CONSPIRACY THEORY WARNINGS ADVISED: CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR TIN FOIL HAT IS SECURELY FASTENED TO YOUR HEAD BEFORE PROCEEDING

We usually don’t delve into the world of conspiracy theories at the Top 10, we tend to stick closer to reality. You know I don’t want to talk about Jeffrey Epstein anymore. I’m tired of this, I’m sick of it, but as long as he’s still in the news we have to talk about him. But really, fuck Jeffrey Epstein and fuck child molesters of all kinds, seriously. But we’re not really going to talk about Jeffrey Epstein for this entry, no, instead we’re going to talk about his longtime friend and co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell, who for the most part has been surprisingly absent from the conversation. Until now. You know they say that Jeffrey Epstein had a lot of skeletons in his closet, but in some cases he and Maxwell might legitimately have real skeletons in their actual closets.

Ghislaine Maxwell, 57, comes from a family by turns brilliant and accomplished, deceptive and doomed. Her backstory is full of sex and science, money and magical illusions. And today she is the world’s most wanted woman—at least by the media and Jeffrey Epstein’s victims.

She is the youngest child of the notorious and disgraced British media mogul Robert Maxwell, rumored after his mysterious death in 1991 to have been an Israeli spy. She was the alleged paramour-turned-pimp for Jeffrey Epstein, the billionaire pedophile who reportedly committed suicide in his cell on August 10.

But there are no known criminal charges against her, only allegations in a civil suit. Indeed, there is speculation she may be cooperating with federal prosecutors. And while she might have decided to hide out here in Provence at her sister’s house in the shadow of Cézanne’s favorite mountain, she was spotted Thursday in California eating a burger while reading a book about CIA heroes.

Ghislaine Maxwell, in short, is a survivor.

“In moments of greatest adversity, that’s where they’re the coolest; it’s bred into the family,” an executive with one of Robert Maxwell’s media companies said after his drowning upended his media empire and forced his wife and children to clean up the mess. “Maxwell’s whole life was ‘Never panic.’”
https://www.thedailybeast.com/jeffrey-epstein-friend-ghislaine-maxwell-has-more-skeletons-in-her-family-closet-than-a-house-of-horrors

No one’s guilty………… yet. But Ms. Maxwell is a very wanted woman right now as she is one of the few who can shed light on the bizarre and mysterious death of Jeffrey Epstein. While the whole world is demanding to know answers into what happened, she is very much absent from the equation, and we’re going to play armchair conspiracy theorist here for a minute. Was she, or was she not spotted at the In-N-Out on Sunset in Hollywood? There’s a lot of crazy stuff that happens there, and I’ve been to that In-N-Out many times. That said, what the fuck?

In the weeks after Jeffrey Epstein's arrest — and suicide — Ghislaine Maxwell remained a mystery.

The woman, who hasn't yet been charged with a crime related to Epstein's alleged sex trafficking, seemed to have gone off the grid. She had left the home of a tech CEO she befriended, and was nowhere to be found.

The New York Post found her in the unlikeliest of places: The In-N-Out Burger in Hollywood. Calling them "the first photos" since Epstein's death, the Post reported that Maxwell "was scarfing down a burger, fries and shake al fresco at an In-N-Out Burger on Monday," August 12, while reading a book about "the secret lives and deaths of CIA operatives."

The photographer told the Post that Maxwell was "perfectly friendly, very lovely" and that Maxwell remarked it would be the "last time" she would eat there.

Seriously, holy shit! The more we dig into the Epstein case the weirder it gets. I mean not that he’s a billionaire pedophile who mysteriously committed suicide in prison, but the more we probe into this thing the weirder it gets. And yes, I’m aware that “probe” was an extremely poor choice of words, especially given the circumstances surrounding this thing. I really hate to use the Daily Mail as a source but there might be a legitimate conspiracy here.

The Daily Mail is exclusively reporting that Ghislaine Maxwell, the former confidante to recently deceased sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, staged a photo taken of her outside a Los Angeles IN-n-OUT Burger location, in an attempt to throw off and confuse investigators looking to interview her.

Reporting for The Daily Mail, Louise Boyle writes:

The first picture of Ghislaine Maxwell in more than three years was staged by her close friend and attorney, Leah Saffian, DailyMail.com has learned exclusively.

A photo of Maxwell, 57, was published last week at an In-N-Out Burger joint in Los Angeles, the day after DailyMail.com broke the world exclusive that Epstein’s alleged madam had been living under the radar at a Massachusetts mansion with her boyfriend Scott Borgerson for the past three years.

The In-N-Out burger joint picture was published by the New York Post on Thursday after they obtained it from Saffian, 60.

In the picture, Maxwell is seen staring at the camera with a tray of food and two drinks. A dog, which is understood to be Saffian’s dog named Dexter, is at her feet.

The Daily Mail’s shot at rival tabloid New York Post will surely make editors at the New York City paper do a double-take.
https://www.mediaite.com/news/epstein-confidante-ghislaine-maxwell-reportedly-staged-in-n-out-photo-to-throw-off-investigators/

Because it’s not a conspiracy if it doesn’t involve the Sunset Strip In-N-Out. So how did Ghislaine Maxwell become the world’s most wanted woman? Well there’s a lot of theories but the fact that she purposefully was paid to groom girls to be shipped over to Epstein’s alleged “Pedo Island”. Yeah this whole thing gets weirder, creepier and more fucked up as you go along.

She's been called Jeffrey Epstein's madam, the woman who recruited girls for his sexual appetites, and at times his social planner and household organizer in places ranging from New York to Palm Beach, Florida.

Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of a British publishing magnate who died under mysterious circumstances, is one of the most prominent figures left from the Epstein orbit after his suicide in jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges .

And she could well be a co-conspirator now in the crosshairs of federal prosecutors, who have made clear the case is far from over.

"If I were drafting an indictment against her, it would be the same conspiracy to traffic in underage minors," said David S. Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor now in private practice in Miami. "That's what it is. That's what the conspiracy would be."

Top 10 Investigates: Trump Inspired Crimes
[br]
[br]

It’s time to investigate beyond the headlines. This is Top 10 Investigates!

Since the recent mass shootings in Dayton and El Paso, people have been searching for answers into what happened and what caused the shooters to go off the rails. This time however, it has taken an increasingly dark turn. In both instances the killers posted manifestos on the chat room website 8chan before committing the shootings. And they all had one thing in common – all of them admired President Donald J. Trump. With that said, much of the attention has been focusing on the increasingly violent and racist rhetoric coming from the president. But what’s really being done? Is anything being done about it?

While Donald Trump was denying any culpability for inspiring the mass shooter in El Paso, Texas, attorneys for another right-wing terrorist, Cesar Sayoc, were arguing the exact opposite. “In this darkness, Mr. Sayoc found light in Donald J. Trump,” attorneys for Sayoc wrote in a court filing for the defendant, who was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to sending pipe bombs to prominent critics of the president. “He became obsessed with ‘attacks’ from those he perceived as Trump’s enemies” and “decided to act out—to send a message, to try to intimidate and scare Trump’s perceived enemies.” A Trump “superfan,” Sayoc “began to consider Democrats as not just dangerous in theory, but imminently and seriously dangerous to his personal safety.”

The Trump Defense, such as it was, did not convince Judge Jed S. Rakoff. In explaining his decision to give Sayoc 20 years behind bars, as opposed to the lifetime sentence recommended by prosecutors, Rakoff said Sayoc’s support for Trump was “something of a sideshow.” Design flaws in Sayoc’s pipe bombs convinced him that Sayoc had intended to scare, not kill his targets. But the Sayoc case is part of a broader pattern of attorneys invoking President Trump’s influence and rhetoric in defense of their clients in criminal cases.

There have been at least a half-dozen such cases in the media over the last three years. In another high-profile case last November, an attorney representing Patrick Eugene Stein, one of three men convicted of plotting to bomb Somali refugees, argued that his client should receive a more lenient sentence because he was inspired by then-candidate Trump. “The court cannot ignore the circumstances of one of the most rhetorically mold-breaking, violent, awful, hateful, and contentious presidential elections in modern history,” attorneys Jim Pratt and Michael Shultz wrote. Similar defenses have been used in other cases that haven’t garnered the same level of media attention, as well: an attorney for a Los Angeles man who posted anti-Muslim threats on a mosque’s Facebook page argued that his client used “similar language and expressing similar views” to “campaign statements from then-candidate Donald Trump”; when a Florida man similarly made a threatening call to a mosque, his attorney noted the “very distinctly political climate” and cited the Trump travel ban; when a Penn State University student threatened to “put a bullet” in an Indian man on campus, his attorney argued he was motivated by “a love of country” and cited Trump “running for president of the United States saying that, ‘We’ve got to check people out more closely.’”

Well, obviously. But we really need to check on our elected officials. They say that hate starts at the top, and when you elect a president who is a professional hater, it’s going to spread far and wide very very quickly. And when the president’s apology and explanation into white nationalism and white supremacy is very half assed, well, let’s just say that it’s not helping things.

The terms "racist", "white supremacist" and "white nationalism" have re-entered into the mainstream political conversations as a rising number of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates and lawmakers accuse President Donald Trump of using divisive identity politics, recent high profile violent acts and as law enforcement say crimes linked to white supremacy are on the rise.

Sen. Bernie Sanders said after the mass shootings El Paso and Dayton that Trump is a "racist" who is seeking to appeal to "white nationalist." So far, at least seven Democratic presidential contenders have escalated their criticism of Trump and his racist rhetoric, calling him a "white supremacist" outright.

Trump has denied being a white supremacist, repeatedly calling himself " the least racist person."

Experts say that amid the heated rhetoric of race, such inflammatory terms are often being incorrectly used interchangeably. Using the terms so broadly and generally can actually be harmful in that it desensitizes and normalizes what should--by most measures-- be considered abhorrent behavior, said Terrence Johnson, an associate professor of religion and politics at Georgetown University.

Yeah so when you call someone a racist be prepared for blowback – it’s not going to end well for you or for them. Because if there’s one thing that racists don’t like, it’s being called racist. And when you call the president Trump a racist, he is going to throw that right back to you and accuse you of reverse racism, because that’s just the kind of psychopath he is.

On Saturday morning, a gunman at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, shot and killed at least 20 people before surrendering to the police. By all accounts, Patrick Crusius, the 21-year-old alleged shooter, is a fan of President Donald Trump and his policies. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a “Twitter account bearing the suspect’s name contains liked tweets that include a ‘BuildTheWall’ hashtag, a photo using guns to spell out ‘Trump,’” and more.

Incredibly, the nation woke up to more grim news on Sunday, with reports that a man suited up in body armor and bearing a rifle with high-capacity magazines had carried out a rampage in Dayton, Ohio, killing at least nine people and injuring 26.

Little is known yet about the Dayton shooter, but a four-page manifesto authorities believe was written by Crusius and posted shortly before the El Paso attack is full of the kind of hateful rhetoric and ideas that have flourished under Trump.

The manifesto declares the imminent attack “a response to the Hispanic invasion,” accuses Democrats of “pandering to the Hispanic voting bloc,” rails against “traitors,” and condemns “race mixing” and “interracial unions.” “Yet another reason to send them back,” it says.
https://theintercept.com/2019/08/04/el-paso-dayton-mass-shootings-donald-trump/

So when racism starts from the top just how bad does it get? Well there’s a lot of attacks that we’ve seen in the last 10 years and there’s a lot of attacks that we’ve seen escalate especially in the last 3 – 4 years with the rise of Donald Trump, neo-fascism and neo-Nazism. But where does it end? The solution is a very complex one that is going to need some careful navigating. The list of crimes committed by fans of the president is nothing to joke about, and we will watch for further developments.

President Donald Trump is a threat to national security.

He preaches hate. He incites violence. He inspires attacks.

We knew this before Friday’s arrest of Cesar Sayoc, who has been charged with a number of crimes in connection with more than a dozen pipe bombs sent to the nation’s most prominent Democrats, among others. As my colleague Trevor Aaronson has written, Sayoc is “a fervent Trump supporter.” Check out his van, his posts on social media, or the testimony of his colleagues.

I have no doubt that Trump helped radicalize Sayoc. Yet Trump apologists are keen to distance their hero from this particular villain. So too, of course, is the president himself. “We have seen an effort by the media in recent hours to use the sinister actions of one individual to score political points against me,” Trump said at a campaign rally on Friday evening.

“One individual”? Who is he kidding? Sayoc may be the latest individual to have combined his love for Trump with a love for violence against Trump’s opponents, but he is far from the first to do so. In fact, there have been a number of violent threats, attacks, and killings linked to Trump supporters in recent years — few of which have dominated the headlines in the same way as Sayoc’s alleged attempt to assassinate top Democrats, including two former U.S. presidents, has.

Holy Shit
[br]
[br]

Gather around my fair brothers and sisters of New Jersey! It’s time to take a seat in the pew and pass the collection plate, for the Holy Church Of The Top 10 has convened and it’s time to remind you that the holiest among us are the most full of:

My fair congregation! In these extremely rough times that we live in, we often look to the good LAWRD JAYSUS for inspiration. Now, that being said, there are some who take their beliefs a little too seriously, and that’s when things get weird. But of course this is 2019 and we are almost 3 years into the rule of the unholy Dark One, who has given our brothers and sisters on the right free reign to do whatever they want. It’s like when Bane released the prisoners and told them that they are free to do whatever they want. So how is it going down in Louisiana?

Public school students in Louisiana will be welcomed with "In God We Trust" signs when they head back to school this month.

The move is the result of a law signed by Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) last year that requires the instruction and display of the motto "In God We Trust" in all public schools in the state starting this school year.

“Not later than the 2019-2020 school year, the program of instruction on patriotic customs required by this Section shall include instruction on the national motto, ‘In God We Trust,’ and each public school governing authority shall display the national motto in each building it uses and in each school under its jurisdiction,” the law, also known as Senate Bill 224, states.

“The nature of the display shall be determined by each governing authority with a minimum requirement of a paper sign,” the legislation also reads.

The move comes as some state legislatures across the South — including Florida, Arkansas and South Carolina — have discussed similar measures that would require public schools to display the motto.

Yeah so “In GAWD We Trust” must be on display in the hallways of Louisiana schools. But it doesn’t matter the size or quality of the sign. That’s the funny part – you could have it written on a tiny post-it note like we do. They didn’t say! They didn’t say! But… what is their justification for this atrocity in the name of GAWD? Why the other LAWRD that the televangelists and religious right worship – the almighty dollar!

A Kentucky school district has been accused of "political games" and utilizing a loophole in order to be compliant to a recently passed law.

Earlier this year, the state Legislature approved a law that requires every school to display the national motto, 'In God We Trust' in a prominent location on campus. Some schools responded by painting large murals or by hanging posters with the phrase in common areas, but the Fayette County Public School District came up with another solution.

Rather than a large display, the school district made copies of the back of a one-dollar bill and placed them in frames that were distributed to all the schools. In accordance with the state law, the frames containing the money are in prominent locations, The Lexington Herald-Leader reports.

Brittany Pike, whose children attend a school within the FCPS district, called attention to the move by snapping a photo of the framed dollar bill and sharing it to Facebook. In her post, Pike praised the school district, writing, "I absolutely love living in a school district that wants to follow the law while also ensuring EVERY student feels welcomed back regardless of religious beliefs. Thank you so very much Fayette County Public Schools for simply posting a dollar with 'In God We Trust.' My kids don't feel awkward or excluded for not believing in any God."

Seriously though – the phrase “In God We Trust” really only applies to one religion now doesn’t it, can we all agree on that? I mean you don’t see praise Buddha, or praise Allah, or praise Vishnu, or Joseph Smith, or Xenu do you? The Christian right’s heads would explode! But the question is how are they going to enforce this?

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The words ‘In God We Trust’ will be displayed in every Louisiana public school starting this fall.

Louisiana Senate Bill 244 was signed into law by Governor John Bel Edwards in May 2018. The bill requires every school to display the national motto and educate students on its history when the 2019-2020 school year begins.

"I still feel strongly that America is a Christian nation,” said Shelby Ainsworth, principal of West Monroe High School. “I want our high school youngsters exposed to as much as that as possible."

Each school can choose how they want to display the national motto, but there is a minimum requirement of at least a paper sign. At West Monroe High School, dozens of posters can be seen along the walls in each building.

Principal Ainsworth says he supports Edwards’ decision, but is aware he might have some students or parents that would disagree.
https://www.wafb.com/2019/08/11/god-we-trust-motto-appear-every-louisiana-public-school-this-fall/

Oh and by the way conservatives, this was a LIBERAL governor who signed this bill into law. But we’re a Christian nation, damn it!!! We are the almighty almightiest nation on GAWD’s green earth. Can I get an amen??? So what’s a principal in the great state of Louisiana to do to honor our good LAWRD and SAVIOR JAYSUS? Why how about this for a message?

As students go back to school, they will be greeted by the United States motto "In God We Trust." If they're not, then the schools will be breaking Louisiana state law.

Gov. John Bel Edwards signed a bill last year that required all public schools in the Pelican State to have the U.S. motto displayed somewhere in the buildings by the 2019-20 school year, CNN reported.

School administrators can decide how to display the motto, but suggestions are spelled out in the bill. They must have at least a paper sign, CNN reported.

The sign display isn't the only change, as students will be taught about the motto and what it means, according to CNN.

Louisiana joins South Dakota as the latest state that has legislated the display of the motto.
https://www.kiro7.com/news/trending-now/-in-god-we-trust-louisiana-public-schools-required-to-display-us-motto/975257874

But the great state of Louisiana isn’t the only state that’s been encouraging this kind of state sponsored mandatory religion in our schools. It turns out that South Dakota is also a state that is getting in on the “In God We Trust” trend. And as good godly god fearing folks like ourselves, we are very worried about this trend as you can plainly tell!

Public school students in South Dakota will notice something different on their first day back to school — the national motto, "In God We Trust," prominently inscribed on walls in stencil or paint.

A new state law that took effect this month requires the message to be displayed in an area where students are "most likely" to see it, such as a cafeteria or entryway.

Gov. Kristi Noem signed the requirement into law in March. It says the motto must be at least 12-by-12-inches in size and easily legible. It can take the form of a mounted plaque, student artwork or other appropriate forms determined by the school principal.

Lawmakers who proposed the law believe the quote will inspire patriotism, according to The Associated Press.

In Rapid City, school staff members have spent the last couple of months working to install the motto in each of the district's 23 schools.
https://www.npr.org/2019/07/25/744909500/south-dakota-public-schools-add-in-god-we-trust-signs-to-walls

And it’s spreading all around the country!

Six primarily Southern states — Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama and Arizona — have approved legislation since last year explicitly requiring or allowing public schools to display the words “In God We Trust,” which has been the national motto since 1956 and is inscribed on American currency. Returning students in Florida and Tennessee are seeing the required displays for the first time, while those in Alabama, where such displays are optional, will likely see a slower rollout.

Other states are poised to follow suit. States such as South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma have proposed similar bills, and in Kentucky, state Rep. Brandon Reed recently drafted a bill for the 2019 General Assembly that would require each public elementary and secondary school in the state to place the motto in "a prominent location" within the school, such as an entryway, cafeteria or common area. If it passes during the next legislative session, it will go into effect for the 2019-20 school year.

Well it’s not just Louisiana that’s requiring this, you wont be able to go into a school in the south without being greeted by “In GAWD We Trust”!!! And this is a very worrisome trend for state sponsored religion! Mass has ended, may you go in peace! That’s it this week for:

Beating A Dead Horse: Tarantino Vs Lee
[br]
[br]

If there’s a new Quentin Tarantino flick out in the theaters, you almost know there’s going to be some crazy controversy attached to it. And while most have called out his tendency to take things to extremes in the past – whether it’s gratuitous violence (Kill Bill), excessive drug use (Pulp Fiction), racism (Jackie Brown), dick jokes (The Hateful Eight), slavery (Django Unchained), and how many times Hitler says the word “nein” in one sentence (Inglorious Basterds). But the controversy surrounding his latest movie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, about the golden age of Hollywood during the 1960s is way different from previous controversies. Mainly a one minute scene in which he depicts the legendary Bruce Lee as an arrogant blowhard. Yes, the legendary kung fu star who was famously murdered on set. And why is that?

Quentin Tarantino is standing by his controversial depiction of Bruce Lee in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

The cocky depiction of the late martial arts star has received criticism from Lee's daughter Shannon Lee (who called it a "mockery&quot , and Lee's biographer. But Tarantino defended it when speaking to reporters in Moscow, where the film is just opening.

“Bruce Lee was kind of an arrogant guy,” Tarantino told reporters. "I didn't make a lot of this up. I heard him say things like that."

The "Once" portrayal features Brad Pitt's fictional stuntman Cliff Booth listening to Lee (played by Mike Moh) boast about his fighting prowess during a down moment on set. Eventually Booth goads Lee into saying that he could beat heavyweight boxing champion Cassius Clay in a fight.

During the fight that follows, Booth throws Lee into a car during an attempted high kick.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/movies/2019/08/12/quentin-tarantino-pushes-back-criticism-over-bruce-lee-portrayal/1992869001/

Yeah no you don’t want to piss off a guy who was capable of chopping your head off. You don’t want to go there, Quentin. And as if that’s not enough, Bruce Lee’s own daughter is pissed at Quentin for the scene in question. But he’s not backing down from his stance on Bruce Lee. In fact Quentin is doubling down. And really 25 years after his murder you’re going there? Might not be the best time to make that move.

Bruce Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, is upset about how Quentin Tarantino portrayed her father as an “arrogant asshole” in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Now, she and Tarantino are going back in forth in a prolonged dispute over it. Lee is asking for Tarantino to either “shut up” or “apologize” for his actions.

“He could shut up about it. That would be really nice,” she recently told Variety. “Or he could apologize or he could say, ‘I don’t really know what Bruce Lee was like. I just wrote it for my movie. But that shouldn’t be taken as how he really was.’”

Several weeks ago, Shannon Lee expressed her disappointment over Tarantino’s decision to portray her father as a conceited tyrant. In the film, which is supposed to take place in the 1960s film industry, Lee’s character challenges Brad Pitt’s character Cliff Booth to a fight, and the latter comes out on top. Tarantino did not consult the Lee family before or during the making of the film. According to Shannon Lee, her father avoided fighting with anyone who was not a martial arts expert. To portray him as otherwise plays into racial stereotypes.

However, Tarantino has defended his portrayal of the martial arts star. “Bruce Lee was kind of an arrogant guy,” he reportedly said at a press event. “The way he was talking, I didn’t just make a lot of that up. I heard him say things like that, to that effect. If people are saying, ‘Well he never said he could beat up Muhammad Ali.’ Well, yeah, he did. Not only did he say that, but his wife, Linda Lee, said that in her first biography I ever read. She absolutely said that.”
https://consequenceofsound.net/2019/08/bruce-lee-quentin-tarantino-shannon-lee-once-upon-a-time-drama/

Yes, NEIN!!! So much nein!!! And this is where the whole thing comes apart at the seems. Because there’s a whole lot of reasons why this whole fight is bogus. But when you add a dash of racism then you will totally throw it off. Was Tarantino’s portrayal of Bruce Lee racist? Was he not in his right mind to portray Lee in this way? the answer to all of these questions is: probably.

NBA legend and friend of Bruce Lee, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar penned a column for THR about the portrayal of Lee in director Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Many have already criticized the film’s caricature-like portrayal of the martial arts icon, including his daughter Shannon Lee. However, Jabbar addresses the controversy from the perspective of a friend, stating the film’s one-dimensional portrayal “harks back to the very stereotypes Bruce was trying to dismantle.”

“During our years of friendship, he spoke passionately about how frustrated he was with the stereotypical representation of Asians in film and TV,” Jabbar states. “The only roles were for inscrutable villains or bowing servants.” Jabbar used the show Have Gun – Will Travel as an example of a show that influenced Chinese stereotypes, which birthed a phrase named after its Chinese character Hey Boy. “Asian men were portrayed as sexless accessories to a scene, while the women were subservient.”

Jabbar believes the “The John Wayne machismo attitude” of Brad Pitt‘s Cliff against the “uppity Chinese guy” of actor Michael Moh are among the sort of stereotypes Bruce hated.
https://hypebeast.com/2019/8/kareem-abdul-jabbar-once-upon-a-time-in-hollywood

Ouch… yeah that’s hurtful. A Hollywood actor who defied stereotypes to become a legend… was portrayed as a stereotype himself. And really coming from someone who has seen and loved nearly all of Tarantino’s films, this one stings a bit. But he’ll recover and we will have a hearty gut laugh over the inanity of this situation. Or he might double down and come off as more of a douchebag. Oh wait, he’s doing the latter.

"Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" is writer/director Quentin Tarantino's love letter to 1960s Hollywood, revolving around fictional fading star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his faithful stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt).

But how much of it is pulp fiction?

The central story of the film – which marks Tarantino's biggest box-office debut, earning $40 million opening weekend – is set amid true Hollywood landmarks and involves very real stars, ranging from Bruce Lee (Mike Moh) to Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie). The tale unfolds during the turbulent summer of 1969, when Tate's horrifying murder dominated headlines.

So just what is real in "Hollywood"? Here are answers to the major questions.

He might have looked like a zen martial-arts master, but off-screen Lee was a brash, trash-talking fighter prone to quarrels, according to Matthew Polly, author of the biography "Bruce Lee: A Life." Tarantino tapped into this bravado, but the author says the screen depiction goes too far.

"Bruce Lee was often a cocky, strutting braggart, but Tarantino took those traits and exaggerated them to the point of caricature," says Polly, who takes exception with Lee boasting about beating boxing champ Cassius Clay (later Muhammad Ali) in a fight.

Dave Portnoy
[br]
[br]

This week’s This Fucking Guy is the CEO of a company that you may have heard of called Barstool Sports, and that’s Dave Portnoy. You know Barstool – the company that’s been fueling toxic masculinity and sports bro culture since 2016. And of course you know that as the year that Trump took over and everything went to shit. Which has made Dave Portnoy lots and lots of money. If you’re the CEO of a company like that, you might want to follow the first rule of social media and that’s don’t be a dick. Also, don’t say anything you will regret later. But Dave Portnoy pulled his best Trump impression last week, said something ridiculously stupid on social media, and may have jeopardized his empire in the process. So how did it happen?

David Rosenfeld, a labor lawyer and self-styled “paid troublemaker,” saw the tweets as good old-fashioned union busting. He went to work. His mission: extract an apology from the man who had threatened to fire “on the spot” any employee who so much as discussed unionizing at his company.

But Rosenfeld’s opponent, David Portnoy, the architect and provocateur in chief of the polemical and fratty media company Barstool Sports, was aggressively unapologetic. Rosenfeld is hoping the National Labor Relations Board, which is now investigating charges against Portnoy and Barstool, will change that.

On Tuesday, Portnoy posted his threat to Twitter, responding to a man offering assistance to Barstool employees who may be considering organizing.

“If you work for @barstoolsports and DM this man I will fire you on the spot,” Portnoy wrote.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and the AFL-CIO, the largest federation of unions in the country, condemned Portnoy’s comments, warning him they likely violated the 1935 National Labor Relations Act, the landmark law laying out workers’ rights and encouraging collective bargaining.

Portnoy was unfazed – gleefully defiant, even. Responding on Twitter to a user who wrote “I hope they unionize,” Portnoy said, “Me too. Just so I can crush it and reassert my dominance.”

Dude seriously, you’re the CEO of a company that thinks women flashing their boobs on camera is funny, not the dictator of a third world country. Seriously, Kim Jong Un and Rodrigo Duterte get to exert their dominance. You toss the beads out to women at the tailgate party at the Super Bowl. And the last thing that you want to do is attract the attention of the Feds. I mean you’re already number one on Roger Gooddell’s shit list, and if you’re on that list, who’s not on it? Well this might be strike 2 if things get worse for the brand.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., on Tuesday criticized Dave Portnoy, the founder of sports blog Barstool Sports, after he threatened to fire any employee that was seeking advice on how to start a union.

In a tweet Monday, Portnoy criticized employees at The Ringer, a sports and culture website, for trying to unionize. Portnoy linked to an article he previously wrote in 2015 when Gawker writers tried to unionize.

"I hope and I pray that Barstool employees try to unionize," he wrote in the 2015 post. "I can’t tell you how much I want them to unionize. Just so I can smash their little union to smithereens. Nothing would please me more than to break it into a million little pieces."

Rafi Letzter, a staff writer for Live Science, replied to Portnoy's tweet on Tuesday, saying his inbox is open to Barstool writers who want advice on starting a union.

"If you work for @barstoolsports and DM this man I will fire you on the spot," Portnoy replied to the tweet.

Under the National Labor Relations Act, it is illegal for companies to fire or discipline employees for being involved with or trying to create a union.

Shit, Dave, I could have told you that and I’m no expert on labor! You know we give Boston sports fans a hard time and well they kind of deserve it because the rest of the world has to put up with them. But egregious labor law violations aren’t the only thing troubling Barstool Sports. As I said they’re a site that is fueling toxic masculinity across the web and around the globe. And this definitely isn’t hurting things.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is punching back at his critics.

The sports and culture blog has been under scrutiny lately by press coverage describing it as promoting sexual harassment and a trolling culture.

In July, The Washington Post reported that Portnoy disparaged a female employee's appearance on his radio show. Then in September, The Daily Beast published a story titled, "Inside Barstool Sports' Culture of Online Hate: 'They Treat Sexual Harassment and Cyberbullying as a Game.'" The next day, New York Magazine published a story titled, "What Fresh Hell Is Barstool Sports?"

All three pieces detail how Portnoy's Barstool makes a business out of harassing women and others who criticize the site, enlists its fans to do the same, and refuses to back down.

As Portnoy told it, Barstool is just defending itself against a small group of passionate "keyboard warriors" with "moral superiority" who use social media to attack him and would love to see Barstool go out of business.

"We never throw the first punch," Portnoy told Business Insider. "I really don't turn the other cheek. So when I feel like I'm being attacked, I don't back down. The easiest thing to say is, 'I'm sorry.' We don't do that."

If you think that egregious labor laws violations, toxic masculinity and some hardcore sexism would be enough to sink Barstool, think again! They take online hate to a whole new level. Wonder why your son or grandson turned out to be a Nazi who spends most of his days owning the n00bs? Well check his browser history – if you see Barstool Sports come up and he’s got a Steam account, you might want to sit down for a little chat.

The other week, Dave Portnoy, the founder and chief of content of the sports blog Barstool Sports, did what he and fans of his site always do: ratcheted up an online spat to a fever pitch, transforming their collective rage at a perceived enemy into content. Even if it meant leaning into the type of social-media harassment and misogyny that Barstool is infamous for.

This particular roiling conflict dates back to October 2017, when ESPN announced it would be bringing in two Barstool personalities, Eric “PFT Commenter” Sollenberger and Dan “Big Cat” Katz, as hosts of a televised version of their wildly popular Barstool podcast, Pardon My Take. Sam Ponder, the host of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, was less than thrilled.

She tweeted out screenshots of a 2014 Barstool blog post in which Portnoy called her a “BIBLE THUMPING FREAK” whose primary job requirement was to “make men hard.” In a podcast that same week, Portnoy went on a rant while Katz egged him on, calling Ponder a “fucking slut” who should “sex it up and be slutty” instead of talking about being a working mother. ESPN canceled the TV show, Barstool Van Talk, after one episode, thanks in part to an internal pushback by more than a few ESPN employees, according to Sports Illustrated.

On Sept. 11, Ponder added a new allegation: Portnoy had said in a video that her daughter should have been aborted. Further, she claimed to have never wanted the network to pull the plug and was willing to make an appearance on their now-canceled show. Portnoy vehemently denies ever having made the abortion comment—though he and Katz admit they made disparaging remarks about Ponder’s daughter—and both Katz and Sollenberger insist Ponder had no interest in speaking with them and very much wanted their show gone.

And to think that ESPN almost gave this guy two hours a day to say whatever he wanted! And if he hates women and anyone else that much, imagine what he’d do to his employees! That’s Dave Portnoy, this week’s:

People Are Dumb
[br]
[br]

Hey everyone it’s time for:

Of course you know by now people are people and people are dumb. And there’s all kinds of these stories and I could literally just do this all day. I want to start with this story out of Seattle. OK so I get that people can be obsessed with video games. And Pokemon Go was white hot at one point, but people still play it. There’s one guy however, who takes his obsession to new extremes. I get playing it on one phone. And then maybe 2 phones. But 8? Seriously 8 PHONES???? Yes that’s a thing that has happened and we will explain.

Troopers say they found a driver playing Pokemon Go simultaneously on eight cell phones on the side of a busy highway Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred on State Route 518 near Sea-Tac Airport.

Trooper Rick Johnson says a Washington State Patrol sergeant witnessed a vehicle pulled over and parked on the shoulder of the busy roadway.

When the trooper checked on the person inside the car, they observed the man playing the popular phone game on eight separate devices.

Authorities say the man was not observed driving while playing.

The sergeant instructed the driver to put the devices away and continue driving.

So that’s back! Just when you thought that things couldn’t go any crazier, Pokemon Go is back everybody! Next up – this story comes out of Pennsylvania. No, we haven’t quite got to the Sunshine State yet. But when you use a stolen credit card to buy goods like a cell phone and beer (cant forget the important stuff!), maybe don’t use this as your signature.

A suspect who used a stolen debit card to purchase a cell phone, beer, and cigarettes signed the sales receipts as “Thief,” according to a Pennsylvania court filing.

Police report that the male suspect swiped the card from a woman who gave him a ride home from a bar last week. The debit card, cops say, was inside a purse in the center console of the woman’s vehicle.

The victim, Joei Thompson, noticed the purse was missing the following day and filed a report with police in Butler, a Pittsburgh suburb. But Thompson’s debit card had already been used to purchase a $200 iPhone 6S at a MetroPCS store and a case of beer and pack of cigarettes from Butler Beer and Tobacco.

When cops examined the sales receipts for the two transactions, they discovered that the purchaser signed his name as "Thief."

The suspect used the surname “Latimore” during the iPhone purchase, which prompted Butler police to check a database that yielded the name Marc Latimore, who “matched the description” given by Thompson “as to the male she gave a ride to.”

Latimore, records show, has a rap sheet that includes convictions for disorderly conduct; marijuana possession; reckless endangerment; possession of drug paraphernalia; public drunkenness; and making terroristic threats.

Next up – now we go to the Sunshine State! Yes, America’s most penis shaped state, never fails to disappoint in the stupid category. But I definitely have to give this guy props for creativity. Yeah he’s stupid but at the same time he’s mocking Trump and comparing him to Hitler.

A 23-year-old Floridian is jailed on a pair of felony narcotics charges for allegedly possessing the opioid fentanyl and “five orange tablets in the shape of Donald Trump’s head marked Trump NL.”

The seized Trump pills appear similar to tablets that have been manufactured in Europe and have prompted “high dose” safety warnings due to their elevated level of MDMA.

Police found the drugs inside an air vent in the Clearwater apartment of Brendan Dolan-King. Cops went to the home “in reference to an overdose” and were given permission by Dolan-King to search the residence, according to an arrest affidavit. A police investigation revealed that Dolan-King “was possibly the person to provide the victim of the overdose with the heroin that he overdosed on.”

Pictured below, Dolan-King was charged Friday with the narcotics raps after lab tests confirmed that a tan powder seized was fentanyl and that the Trump pills contained MDMA. Dolan-King has been in custody since late-June--when the drugs were found--on marijuana possession with intent to sell and probation violation counts.

Well yeah you’re wrong. Yes I know, I said it!!! Moving on. OK smart guy… stop it!!! Next up – guns! Yes, sticking in the Sunshine State, you know our motto around here is that if you give an idiot a gun don’t be surprised if they do something stupid with it. And maybe if you’re participating in an orgy, maybe I don’t know don’t bring your gun to the party? The only person who gets to do that is Frank Reynolds from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

In the midst of a weekend-long orgy, a 9mm handgun was stolen from the host's bedroom, according to Florida police who are not confident in catching the thief since guests at the gathering were encouraged to use fake names.

As detailed in a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office report, the 63-year-old victim told deputies that his Glock pistol turned up missing after last month's “open house party” at his residence in Deltona, a city 30 miles north of Orlando.

The victim, whose name is redacted from the police report, said that he hosted the orgy at the Deltona residence (seen below) from July 19 to July 21. The man added that the party was “advertised on a gay social media site” and that the “theme of the party was ‘anonymous sex.’”

Guests, the man said, were “encouraged to come and go as they pleased” during the weekend and were told to “bring along any friends or acquaintances they desired, and guests were encouraged to utilize fictitious names, or use no name at all.”

Finally this week – cops! Look, look, here’s my whole thing – don’t impersonate cops. That is the hot take for this week. Because when you impersonate police officers and start pulling people over, you never know who you might pull over. And you especially don’t want to pull over any real police officers because you will get arrested for that. it’s a no-win scenario for you in this situation .

Don’t you hate it when you’re pretending to be a cop, and you pull over real ones? Then these guys have the nerve to confront you. Outrageous!

Valiery Portlock, 25, is charged with first-degree criminal impersonation of an officer, second-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing from a police officer, and other traffic violations, in Nassau County, New York, according to Newsday.

The defendant, a resident of the hamlet of Hicksville, was driving a Nissan Sentra at about 11 a.m., cops said. He attempted to pull over an unmarked van by using an air horn and emergency lights, officers said. Surprise, surprise, there werer electronic squad detectives inside. That van stopped, and the real police approached him.

Portlock is accused of making a less-than-graceful escape. He swerved into oncoming traffic and entered the Long Island Expressway at 85 mph, officers said. Highway patrol officers arrested him.

Keeping Up With The Candidates Ep. 5: John Hickenlooper

[br]
[br]

Welcome back to Keeping Up With The Candidates. I do love that graphic by the way. In the last couple of weeks we’ve been introducing you to the wackiness of the 2020 election. We started with the almost rans, then we went and showed you some of the winners running against established democrats in Alabama and Minnesota. Now we’re checking out some of the 800,000,000 candidates who are running to unseat @realDonaldTrump in the 2020 election. This week we’re going to hang with brewmaster, former mayor of Denver, and current mayor of the great state of Colorado, John Hickenlooper! You know Colorado – it’s a state known for its’ natural beauty, football superiority, beautiful snow-covered mountains and of course… BEER! Bet you didn’t know that Colorado loves its’ beer so much that they elected a brewmaster as the governor did you? So what went wrong in his quest to become the 46th president of the United States? Well…

John Hickenlooper, the former Colorado governor whose low-key brand of moderate politics made him popular in his home state but limited his appeal in a Democratic primary filled with urgent progressive energy, announced on Thursday that he was ending his presidential campaign.

Mr. Hickenlooper has been seriously considering a run for the Republican-held Senate seat in Colorado that is up for election in 2020 — a key pickup target in the Democrats’ strategy to try to retake control of the Senate.

“Today, I’m ending my campaign for president,” he said in a videotaped statement. “But I will never stop believing that America can only move forward when we work together.”

“I’ve heard from so many Coloradans who want me to run for the United States Senate,” he added. “They remind me how much is at stake for our country. And our state. I intend to give that some serious thought.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/15/us/politics/john-hickenlooper-drop-out-senate.html

Yeah we need the sad trombone for that one. We lost another one but we could potentially gain a senate seat out of this whole mess. How would that work exactly? Colorado does love this guy after all, so he could go very far in the senate race. But the question is would it be a landslide victory or would it just be even a marginal victory? Colorado is still very conservative outside of Denver and Ft. Collins.

Another passenger has boarded the S.S. Winnow: On Thursday, former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper announced he was dropping out of the race for president.

Many of the problems we identified with Hickenlooper’s campaign when he first entered the race ended up coming true. He lacked a geographic or demographic base, and he proved unable to stand out from a flashier field of candidates. Despite hopes that he would make some noise in the debates, he didn’t make a positive impression in the first and spoke less than any other candidate in the second.

The result: Hickenlooper never found his footing among actual voters. When he dropped out of the race, a majority of Democrats (56 percent) still did not have an opinion of him, according to a FiveThirtyEight average of August polls. But even if Hickenlooper had more successfully gotten his name out there, he just wasn’t what voters were looking for. Even in Colorado, where he is well-known and well-liked among Democrats,1 Hickenlooper received just 7 percent of the vote in a Public Policy Polling survey of the presidential primary. Nationally, he never wound up exceeding 2 percent in any poll:

Hickenlooper’s campaign had been struggling for months, so this wasn’t an unexpected announcement. In early July, six of his top staffers left the campaign after urging him to drop out and run for U.S. Senate in Colorado instead. There was so little grassroots appetite for his candidacy that, four months into his campaign, he had reportedly amassed only 13,000 individual donors (one-tenth of the required number to qualify for the September debate). At the time, an anonymous source said staff told Hicklenlooper his campaign was on pace to run out of money by the end of August, so it’s possible Hickenlooper simply could not afford to continue his campaign.
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/john-hickenloopers-presidential-campaign-is-over-can-he-flip-a-senate-seat-instead/

Well his presidential ship has sailed for sure but his senate ambitions are very much alive and well, but could he flip a seat? It will be very interesting to see and a very close race to watch. Flipping the Senate and getting Mitch McConnell out of power is just as important as winning the presidency. So the good news by Hickenlooper being out is that he has already boosted the candidacies of Biden, Warren, and Harris! So that is a positive outlook!

Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper dropped out of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary on Thursday. Though he never exactly soared in the polls, he resonated well enough among some constituencies that at the very least, his exit from the race presents an opportunity for other candidates to muscle in and secure support from his now abandoned fans.

Since December 2018, INSIDER has been conducting a series of national polls asking respondents who they would be satisfied with in the event they secured the Democratic nomination. This allows us to determine the degree of overlap of between those who'd like a President Hickenlooper, few as they may be, and the remaining contenders in the race.
Among the frontrunners, Biden and Warren are obvious possible beneficiaries

Generally speaking, if someone indicated they liked John Hickenlooper, they were the kind of respondent who was fairly amenable to a wide swath of the field.

The most recent polls show that Hickenlooper's support base also have strong affinity for frontrunners Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren, with more than 75% saying they also like Biden and 71% saying they also like Warren. For context, overall 58% of Democratic respondents would be satisfied with Biden and 56% would be satisfied with Warren, so they enjoy a considerable bump among those Hickenlooper aficionados.
https://www.businessinsider.com/john-hickenlooper-exit-good-news-these-3-democratic-candidates-2019-8

OK enough with the losing sounds! We get it! So how could this whole thing work? Well Mr. Hickenlooper will have a lot of hurdles to face if he decides that he’s going to throw his hat into the 2020 Senate race. And it will take a lot to flip Cory Gardener’s seat but it can be done. The question is, is Colorado ready?? Are you ready???? Let’s DO IT!!!

“I don't think that he is thinking about getting into this race,” said John Walsh, a former U.S. attorney and one of the Democratic candidates, who said he’s spoken to Hickenlooper recently. “I think his focus is on Iowa.”

Hickenlooper has consistently said he’s focused on the presidential race and has no interest in challenging vulnerable Republican Sen. Cory Gardner, a stance he has reiterated multiple times this week. Peter Cunningham, a Hickenlooper spokesperson, declined to comment on the Senate race. "He's running for president," Cunningham said.

But several recent moves have stoked speculation that he’s eyeing a run for Senate. Hickenlooper met with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer last week, CNN reported and an aide to Hickenlooper confirmed. A Democratic operative last week purchased web domains related to a Hickenlooper Senate bid. And over the weekend, Hickenlooper said in a radio interview that he’d “never ruled out anything,” a comment that sparked buzz back home.

“I’m not sure people necessarily get out of the race if he decides to run,” said Doug Friednash, a former chief of staff to Hickenlooper. “But he's got a favorable matchup with Sen. Gardner, and I think that's what catches the attention of national Democrats. ... They see him as an incredibly strong candidate who can raise money and instantly be a formidable opponent.”
