...our own handsJust three weeks in June, 45,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended crossing the Mexican border into Texas! said the letter. That amounts to the entire population of Galveston every three weeks. In just six months, wed add the population of Arlington!
If were going to DEFEND Texas, well need to take matters into our own hands, the letter continued. The problems of illegal immigration never reach swanky limousine-liberal neighborhoods in New York and California!

OF COURSE he did this and as sure as night turns to day there is no way he will ever accept any culpability for violent words and deeds that follow such rhetoric...

(14,118 posts)after the people won their independence from Mexico the primary goal of the leaders of Texas was to
get rid of the brown-skinned Mexicans (I've met Mexicans with the full Spanish ethnic background and they're whiter than I am!) and Indigenous/Native/Indian people. Some traditions have a positive effect but not this one.

It's interesting to me that the Vikings had the good sense to withdraw when met with strong resistance in Newfoundland from the Indigenous people
around 1,000 AD. Maybe the Vikings weren't so bad after all...

(9,974 posts)Perhaps this letter explains why he couldnt be bothered to call a special legislative session to deal with gun violence after the El Paso murders, but in 2017 he was so bothered by the need to force trans students to use the bathroom matching their birth gender that he called a special session to try to get the bathroom bill passed that had failed in regular session. Fortunately, saner heads prevailed and it failed.
Abbott is obviously a big racist in the Trump mold and a big gun supporter. He may want to get rid of all brown immigrants, but they are part of the success of Texas. Texas has a lower unemployment rate than the national rate and fast growth, but without Hispanics that growth would come to a screeching halt.
