However, tariffs are a pretty bad way to do it...

I am old enough to still be pissed that George Bush Senior pushed economic engagement/coupling of the US economy after Tienanmen Square and then all the Presidents after essentially continued that policy despite the human rights record.

started to teeter.

So the Recession is now turning into a Depression forecast. Folks have to realize it takes three to five years to build a typical Foundry Based Production Plant. And a full 18 months to build out a Assembly Plant.

When China bought our Manufacturing Companies years ago, they sent in crews to disassembly them and ship them back and reassembly them in China in order to speed up the Build out process.

What will happen is the U.S. will isolate itself from the rest of the world, and isolationism is NOT a good policy

Any thought about those rare earth minerals?

Have you ever been to China, and are you aware of what West did to Asia?

Read about the Boxer rebellion as just one example

As for the Boxer rebellion, good for China for kicking out imperialists. What does that have to do with cheap products today?

A very small number of people. Most people are happy to get the best deal on the merchandise they buy. Which is why buying things from other countries does not bother me at all. If I spend halve to price on a pair of dungarees that leaves me more money to buy more products, some of which may be domestically produced.

of jobs and loss of jobs to other countries. We should try to keep jobs in the US and pay what an item is worth. I bought a huge ream of notebook paper at Target the other day for like 50 cents and it must be worth 5 dollars. People are getting hurt from that kind of practice, workers and forests.

How would you like your job to be outsourced or your pay cut in half?

Your expressed opinion is exactly what Trump and also left wing nationalist are pushing. That economies are closed systems denying the realities of a global economy.

The problem was not outsourcing but the continual loss of power by unions and the continued shredding of the safety net.

Everyone longing for the days when we were the manufacturing behemoth for get one simple fact. After WWII we were the only large manufacturing power. Once Japan and Europe got back in the game our days of domination were over.

China, but China did not have the same demand for the products from the West. So the West in their great wisdom decides to push Opium into China, and effectively became a drug pusher. Of course there were more particulars, but it is the same thing

You don't cut your nose off to spite your face. You don't think China buys products from China? They buy everything from farm products to automobiles.

In fact right now there is a major beef shortage going on there, we are not able to take advantage of it because of this trade war

Trade wars have Never been good

The only thing that Carter's boycott of wheat did to Russia is hurt our farmers because other countries were only to glad to take over that business.

Same thing will happen here

It is not a simple situation, that is solved by protectionism or trade wars, history time and again has demonstrated those are disasters.

If the U.S. stopped all trade with China, I have no doubt that other countries would not, and we would be hurt very badly.

One doesn't cut their nose off to spite their face, unless you are someone who has had multiple bankruptcies, and sits in the WH

But I do not think many will fall for this BS again. He is too fucking stupid and unstable. GOP owns this fucker.

The GOP might allow Trump to be able to ignore some constitutional laws and ethical standards but they, and everyone else knows, Trump cannot hereby order much of anything nongovernmental.
The curtain on the "Chosen One" was lifted long ago. Trump is an unstable fraud.
