the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), Paul Ryan (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich, several years removed from his presidential campaign, and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith.

In his book, Draper opens with the heady atmosphere in Washington on the days running up to the inauguration and the day itself, which attracted 1.8 million to the mall to witness Obama being sworn in as America's first black president.

Those numbers contributed to a growing sense of unease among Republicans as much the defeat in the White House race the previous November. The 15 Republicans were in a sombre mood as they gathered at the Caucus Room in Washington, an upscale restaurant where a New York strip steak costs $51.

Attending the dinner were House members Eric Cantor, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra, Dan Lungren, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Pete Sessions. From the Senate were Tom Coburn, Bob Corker, Jim DeMint, John Ensign and Jon Kyl. Others present were former House Speaker and future – and failed – presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and the Republican strategist Frank Luntz, who organised the dinner and sent out the invitations.

What is the source? Who are these 15 others. How do we know this is true? How do you know this. Lots of people were busy on inauguration night.
Repeating this without any kind of source or proof make us no better a reality challenged Tea-bagger making up shit.

We are not the Borg. Most of the rest of us can't read the mind of the collective.

Also DU is big on links and sources. It's just expected. Both are missing. So is the list of 15 needed to nail down the subject of the OP. There are so many list of idiots, Blue Dogs, Tea-baggers, 3rd way, whatever, it is hard to keep track of who is on anybody's particular list du jour.

You may know, your group, friends, etc. may know, but not all members are interested in or pay attention to the same things.

Ever read a newspaper? The first paragraph or so, always has what the article is about. That is what was missing from your OP.

Did he mean the republicans come together after a Democrat is elected, to figure out ways to undermine him and make America fail? I think that's what he meant.

There is video of Mr. Turtle clearly stating that his number one priority was to "make Obama a one term president". Not to help create jobs or turn around the economy. Just to simply Obstruct.

What SOBs!

Fri Aug 31, 2012, 07:39 PM

in The Hunting of the President Lyons and Conason talk about the "elves" A group of republicans, including Ted Olson, who met "within a few weeks of the election", they didn't even wait until the inauguration, and decided to figure out a way to impeach Clinton. Before he was even sworn in. I guess in 2008 they figured they might wear out the impeachment tactic so found another one.

These people really are destructive to our way of life and I bet they think the same of us. We all need counseling. Know of a good shrink?
