He thinks that women who have abortions should be hanged.
I think the monstrosity that is Kevin Williamson should be hanged for his vile hatred toward women. Why does Bill have these disgusting pigs on his show? Controversy is one thing, but evil is another. He is just another sickening misogynist.

(53,410 posts)Except to upset the audience. Im not a fan of Bill Maher precisely because he tends to show disdain for his audience. Hes not on our side. He just likes controversy and he wants audiences that are smart, and our side is definitely smarter.

(63,221 posts)Williamson is one of them. I agree that he tends to go for injecting controversy into his show rather than showing a united front of liberal thought. We don't need it. If we wanted to listen to these people we could watch Fox news. I
don't need to see them on his show to know how sick and offensive they are. Excerpt below from "The Week":
"But none of that compares to what we got from Williamson earlier this week, when he took to Twitter to declare that he thinks women who have had abortions deserve to be executed for their actions. And not just executed in any old way, or by lethal injection, which is the standard in the 32 states that permit the death penalty. No, Williamson thinks women who have had abortions along with the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff involved in the procedure deserve to face death by hanging.
Now, the hanging bit is an almost perfect example of intentionally provocative rhetoric. (That's my preferred euphemism for "trolling." Note how it adds an extra frisson of outrageousness to the proposal of capital punishment, given the way hanging has historically been deployed as a uniquely public form of execution, used by governments as well as extrajudicial gangs of private citizens to inspire acute fear and intimidation. (Williamson might have just gone ahead and advocated beheadings, though of course, as another National Review author has recently argued, only a "purely evil" political organization could favor anything like that.)"

(25,454 posts)"Abortion, if it's not homicide, it ain't tax evasion, it ain't littering, if it's not homicide there's no reason to prohibit it at all. There's no reason to worry about it": abortion shouldn't be taken seriously if it's not treated like a homicide. If it isn't treated as a homicide there's no reason to prohibit it at all.
But of course attack Bill Maher for having guests on his show. I thought echo chambers were bad. He said about having Williamson as a guest that the response on Twitter will be ugly: "They'll kill me for having you on. 'Platforming' you." When idiots like Williamson are on the show they are exposed for the idiots they are. Why this is bad I don't know. Very often on Bill's show it's the first time for me to see these sorts of idiots and then feel glad that they are ridiculous and no threat.

(63,221 posts)But like most men who are anti-choice, it is all about punishing women and in his case, killing them. Think about that. He is supposedly so pro-life that he advocates hanging women who have abortions and hanging the healthcare professionals who assist them. How effed up is that?

(8,964 posts)Williamson's goal is to achieve an increase in female births so that large numbers of them will be hanged later on.

(16,352 posts)Because a bunch of people sitting around agreeing with each other makes for bad TV. Its boring.

(63,221 posts)We want people to reinforce our viewpoint. It is not bad TV because they are still dealing with controversial issues. The guests can still be on our side and deliver interesting television. There is no need to have an odious right-wing guest on the show, particularly one who advocates hanging women who have abortions.

(16,352 posts)Im already pretty comfortable with them. I like it when he has interesting people on even if they annoy me. I loved it when Larry Wilmore embarrassed Milo. I enjoyed this clown, whose name I already cant remember, get embarrassed as well.
Dont like? dont watch. Its actually pretty simple. I exercise my right to chose what I watch every day.

(63,221 posts)Why does the left need to have a controversial guest when the right wing news doesn't. They still manage to tune in by the millions. Do they always need a counterpoint?
Would it really hurt Bill's ratings if he did not have an obnoxious right-winger on every week? I doubt it very much. Most people tune in because they want their viewpoints reaffirmed, even if you don't.
RhodeIslandOne
(5,042 posts)No. Most of us on the left have brains that aren't easily damaged like righties.
I enjoy watching conservatives who are used to jerking off themselves and each other off on FOX go on Bill's show and be embarrassed. That's good TV. Watching a racist felon like Dishwash D'Snooza squirm and look to run off the set under Bill's questioning is good shit.
I find MSNBC boring, because for the most part it is a preach to the choir affair.
