International Emergency Economic Powers Act

Being cited by dumbfuck this morning as the precedent/law he can unilaterally criminalize trade with China:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Emergency_Economic_Powers_Act

The International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), Title II of Pub.L. 95–223, 91 Stat. 1626, enacted October 28, 1977, is a United States federal law authorizing the president to regulate international commerce after declaring a national emergency in response to any unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States.[1]

This would not fly in court and could very well be viewed poorly by China - our largest debt holders...

due to problems at our Southern border with Mexico - perhaps dipsh*t wants to use that - Mexico colluding with China??? Seems to fit "in response to any unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States..."

And, no, you can’t just recycle them. Each statute with some kind of “emergency” power needs to be individually invoked.

This statute was used 13 times by President Obama.

One of the things people don’t realize when voting for president is that there is a host of president emergency powers under which the declaration of an emergency is within the president’s discretion.

Is his good friend Tim Cook going to bring Apple manufacturing back to the states? Maybe they arrange to have the immigrant kids in cages to work for Apple for free. They have tiny fingers & should be quite adept at putting together little phones & watches.

Good gawd, just stop and think about all you have in your house that’s made in China. Electronics, appliances, building materials, auto parts, athletic shoes ....

He can do that?
