Is the "trade war" a sham??

Trump thinks of himself as the great "deal maker". His trade war is an attempt to display this supposed deal making prowess and is nothing but a distraction from all the issues he knows nothing about. It is now obvious he knows nothing about trade either yet he has effectively taken all important issues off the table.
He will effectively destroy the world before he exposes his lack of knowledge or interest in so many pressing issue.

I don't know about sham, other than the means he uses to sell it to his base and the people would be expected to be along the lines of some form of manipulation.

It does seem to be an effective tool to disrupt our economy and shake it down from the core while inducing a ripple effect into Global trade and other economies. It's like a soft bomb being tossed into the economic system.

So, if it is a sham, then it seems to have been effective as a means to get a downturn into gear and steer us into a deeper and faster decline that we might have ever expected--along with several other factors. The implications are both alarming and could have long-term effects that will bring some economic earthquakes if it continues this way.

So, Putin?

PUtin paid a lot to obtain drumpfs alleged presidency and drumpf has to repay him by doing what PUtin says, regardless. He doesn't care if PUtin is out to destroy us or the world. he only cares about protecting himself and will happily destroy us to keep his bacon safe.

What concerns me more is a gradual and pervasive strategy wouldn't be about destroying us as much as overwhelming and absorbing us.

It is kind of like the days when the neutron bomb was developed and they talked about the greater incentive to use it because it killed all the people effectively while still leaving the infrastructure viable for the victors.

That's a dated analogy only because everything relies on computers and electronics, so the EMP from the bomb would most likely wipe more out than just the inhabitants. Which reminds me of just how vulnerable the electric grid is and other key and vital components of our system are.

In spite of DFT, the US economy remains robust. Countries that are dependent on export of only a few products (like Russia, Arabia, and North Korea) will be hit much harder. Putin will get his comeuppance eventually.
