The point is, being the smarter of the two groups, we should understand the game and develop our electoral strategies accordingly. If being stupid and emotional wins elections, we should run stupid, emotional campaigns.

The right wing wins elections largely by deception - convincing the non-rich that they'll be better off under conservative policies (when they never are), telling the non-rich what they want to hear (it's all those other people's fault), and gaming the system (gerrymandering, suppressing minority vote, etc.), not by presenting smarter/better ideas.

It's hard to play any game against an adversary who has no moral compass and will do anything to win, where a large part of their strategy is bending/breaking the rules.

Democrats want to run and win mostly on the strength of their ideas. Sure, there have been cases of democratic gerrymandering, but deception is not the main operational strategy of the democratic party.
