Good questions. I'd say "all the above, except the first one." I understand him very well. He is not different than the sociopaths I had the mispleasure of dealing with in forensic social work .....guys in county jail and state prison. I'd also add that I watch him because I recognize that he poses a serious threat to our natio and the world.

The point of talking is that you are reaching out. You have hope that your “family” is there and not destroyed, and you can be talked back to. Talk is action more than people realize. It organizes chaos, creates intent, and furthers cooperative action.

News shows prioritize the president and therefore what he/she said -- and they report it as if the president actually put thought into it. Then they bring in people/pundits from places such as Koch-backed tanks to "comment" or put the corporate spin on whatever mindless blather was emitted by the president. By the time the news shows are done, the original comment has either been blown out of proportion, distracting viewers from more sinister goings-on, or the original deed has been revised to take the edge off it.
