Some of the cheesier rerun cable networks are running both of his uber-classic shows - and I'm always riveted.

When the history of comedy is written, he will rank #1 in "timing" (and top 10 in many other facets too). No contest.

While it would be fun to ridicule the Republicans with a response-in-kind, the better choice is probably to simply just sail right over it and instead let the President and others focus on actual issues, and on being honest, honorable, and straightforward.

That is the real contrast that we are going to see between these back-to-back conventions.

Oh, that doesn't mean that we cannot have our fun--and this weekend will be fun as thousands of creative people craft their own personal and public responses.

But the people at the convention don't have to do that. All they have to do is their jobs, and let the people notice that only one side is actually doing that.

And he should make plenty of throat slashing gestures and throw in some gun gestures too because they do that all the time in the movies and nobody would question any of that.

For once, I'm not in favor of getting down on the repub's level and doing battle. The Eastwood chair thing was a colossal fuckup on their part, it effectively wrecked the most important portion of their convention, and it needs no further embellishment from us. Thanks, Clint.......
