Satellite photos indicate North Korea is building a ballistic missile submarine and may be making preparations to test a submarine-launched missile, according to an analysis of the commercial images by experts at a Washington-based think tank.

3. Where are the people who know something about military hardware when these dumbass stories come out?

1. Having a missile that can hit America does not mean it can hit America with a nuclear weapon. NK's nuclear weapons are not miniaturized, they are HEAVY. It's unlikely their missile could get their nuke to America.

2. Having a missile that can hit America does not mean it can hit any particular part of America. Much of the US and USSR's research since 1960 or so has been on guidance, which is much more difficult than simply lofting the throw-weight. The most likely thing this new NK missile would do, nuclear or not, is dig a hole in some forgotten corner of Kansas or Oregon.

3. Both 1 and 2 are made even worse by trying to launch from a submarine.

This is not a threat, it is theater meant for people who do not understand how things work together. And everyone is going along with it as if it's serious.

4. If the image is accurate, that bms is approaching 300 ft long...

That's a pretty big son of a bitch...and if it doesn't sink on its first test run, a pretty significant accomplishment for a nation state otherwise forced into third world status by the rest of the civilized world....


And a goddamn scary one at that.
