https://taskandpurpose.com/military-children-born-abroad-citizenshipSeriously? Their children would have to be NATURALIZED? As such, they could never run for the Presidency? As with someone like a John McCain? Captain Bone Spurs says this?
Add another group (Military) of US CITIZENS that Dear Leader is disrespecting.

(1,332 posts)What a truly disgusting piece of garbage. Is this his way of getting back on John McCain?
He expects a woman to fly home (at 36 weeks) and have to give birth without her husband?
What if there are other children in the family? Who is going to take care of them while the mother is back in the states.
I hope NO ONE volunteers to join the armed forces AT ALL> NO ONE.

(3,577 posts)He would like to overturn this, but has been told he can't because of the Constitution. So perhaps his untutored understanding of the law is backwards: he thinks that children of the military not born here should not qualify for citizenship? It doesn't work that way.

(15,805 posts)young American military families live overseas where there active duty spouse is stationed? They're having babies who are citizens by Constitutional right.
Trump can't change the Constitutional so this is more hot air. Let's hope he pushes this gem and alienates the military.

(26,731 posts)The change doesn't apply to children of US citizens born abroad whose parents apply for citizenship for them. Those are citizens at birth.
It applies to children born abroad who are not citizens at birth and later decide to apply for citizenship. It could also be for the grandchildren of US citizens whose parents were born abroad (and gained citizenship), but who never lived in the US themselves.

This applies to children of people who become naturalized AFTER the child has been born. Of particular significance to me is this exclusion: "Children of non-U.S. citizens adopted by U.S. citizen government employees or service members..."
I was born in Canada and adopted by a US couple. They still had to go through a process to make me a citizen. How is this any different?
There's a lot of things to be outraged about this administration, this isn't one of them.
