I am listening to the story on Maddow's hour and am on the verge of tears. This is where we find ourselves today.
That FUCKING MAGGOT Stephen Miller is at the bottom of this, I'd bet anything.
Anger is welling up, but concern for those sick kids and their families is stronger in me right now.

(28,075 posts)2) it's no secret that there are undocumented Irish in the Boston area (current estimate is 50K nationally, which seems really low)
and
3) The Irish International Immigrant Center in Boston has gotten involved, (though the Irish International Immigrant Center, does advocate for all immigrants, not just the Irish).
some of the sick kids might look a lot like these kids.
I doubt if Trump's teeny tiny brain can grasp that some undocumented people are of European descent.

(28,075 posts)but I do think the bigots haven't figured out that not all undocumented immigrants are brown. Deporting sick kids may make that apparent.
Through all this I've often wondered why we've never heard Trump complaining about the undocumented Irish - not that I didn't know the answer to that.

(4,980 posts)I can't even begin to understand how multiple people looked at this agenda, and said, yes, we will kick out sick kids.
I'm at a loss as to how to shame/change the minds of the people willing to do this.
The tyranny has to stop. This is not normal.

Donald Trump likes to get his way, and hes not above cutting off a sick infants health coverage to make it happen.
The story begins after the death of Trumps father, Fred Sr., in 1999. As David Cay Johnston explains in his book The Making of Donald Trump, Fred Sr. had written a will after the death of his oldest son, Fred Jr., known as Freddy, in 1981. The will left the majority of Fred Sr.s wealth to Donald and his surviving siblings. Freddys family was largely cut out.
When Fred Sr. died, Freddys children sued, claiming that the will had been procured by fraud and undue influence by Donald and the other surviving siblings, according to Johnston
Johnston writes that medical insurance had consistently been provided to the family through Fred Sr.s company. This coverage was crucial for Freddys grandson (Donalds grandnephew), who suffered from seizures and later developed cerebral palsy. So crucial, in fact, that a letter sent from a Trump lawyer to the insurer after the patriarchs death in 1999 said that all costs for the sick childs care should be covered, regardless of caps on the plan or medical necessity, according to Johnston. That didnt last long.
A week after the lawsuit was filed in court, Freddys son (Donalds nephew) received a letter informing him that the health insurance would be discontinued, meaning his ill son would be left without coverage. Donald openly admitted to the New York Daily News that he and his siblings took this action out of revenge. Why should we give him medical coverage? Trump said, adding, They sued my father, essentially. Im not thrilled when someone sues my father.
Trump explained that his late brothers family didnt receive much in the will because their father wasnt fond of Freddys ex-wife, the New York Times reported.
Trump told the newspaper that the family members later settled the lawsuit very amicably. What became of the care for his sick grandnephew? Well never know. The settlement agreement, according to Johnston, is sealed.
