HOLY CRAP!

Sonic - sounding Military Jet just went over our suburb. It was house rattling kind of thing. It was low, nothing like what airplanes do. That has never happened here before and we have lived here a very long time. Everybody ran outside to look up. We saw neighbors were out.

Holy Crap!

Makes me very thankful NOT to be in a war zone.

Yes, it’ll rattle your windows all right.

When people flinched at the nearby bar, the old geezers would say, “sound of freedom.”

Yeah, I can see a response like that, indeed.

There is a National Guard base about 45 min south of us, it must have come from there. We could hear it coming from a long ways off and could hear it for a long ways as it kept going. It must be a RUSH to fly something like that! Whew!

I was a heluva lot younger then, now it would drive me batty.

Terrified the dogs. They never seeme to get used to it.

I’m like you, I used to think how terrifying it must be to be in a war zone with those guys deliberately trying to terrorize. Many in our neighborhood actually thought they were, but at least they weren’t dropping bombs!

They did accidentally drop their tow targets a few times.

Then the fighters shoot at it. (I assume it’s all computer scored, but I have no idea. It was a huge piece of some kind of fabric with a big target on it.

More than once when I lived down there, somehow they accidentally dropped the target. Once it fell near someone’s boat, another time in a trailer park. Caused all kinds of an uproar!

Significant damage to property, but no one was hurt thank goodness.

Still it was amusing to those of us who were not all rah-rah on the Navy.

Found out early the next morning, when the fighter jets took off, that there was no problem waking up. We laughed about that experience for years.

in Virginia Beach and the noise is deafening.

Lots of bumper stickers around here say: The Sound of Freedom because there is almost no place in the city you can avoid some kind of jet noise.

It's 9pm here and they routinely seem to be blowing out the engines around this time of day.

We lived within a few miles of Langley AFB for years, had pilots as neighbors. They had a habit of buzzing the wives at 6:30am & I mean LOW buzzes with F15s. I put up with it until my son was born, when I requested they stop. They did; they were actually nice folks, except for trashing Pres.Clinton.

Now we live under the flight path of Camp Perry. 2 nights ago a fair sized private jet came in around 2330 hrs when we were out walking our pups. It was loud and so low we could easily count the plane's windows. Naturally, we assumed it was brass flying in from DC & wondered what's up now.

Glad we don't have to hear that every night. My condolences.

where a couple holes are. We're just teeing off and two F-18's came screaming low right over us. It scared the crap out of us! No warning at all and they were right over us before we could even hear them! In that situation in a war, you wouldn't even have time to dive behind a rock if they were dropping bombs. It was quite a rush!

We did that every year for the airshow because the public course is right by the airport. See the show, golf and drink brewski's. It was a good time.

You did not hear it until it was upon you. Wow. This jet tonight could be heard for a long ways off and a long ways as it went by. Different tactics I guess. I don't what kind of plane it was.
