as I read it right now, we will win by overwhelming numbers. (and we have to hit the streets to make sure that actually happens.) Trump and his echo chamber will claim it was stolen and "unfair". They will not ceed power and we will really hit civil war level crises. This is what I think will happen November - January of 2020.
I don't know how it will play out from there. We have to win. I don't know how.

(7,968 posts)The fact the the election was stolen is not spoken of. It has been buried because it was judged to be information people wouldn't deal be able to deal with. That is my opinion anyway. I'd be interested in knowing what the true academic political scientists say about 2016. The ones that don't make the assumption that the vote totals were a prior correct.
Alternative explanation is that nobody really knows for sure so they are not saying. Still I would think that someone who does statistics well would be able to smell the Russian rats.

(25,183 posts)Right now, Trump has been running against "Generic Democratic Candidate", and GDC doesn't have any race, gender, or orientation attributes, which makes it harder to run against GDC. Also, GDC doesn't have any legislative record, business history, or know political alliances. Once we get a nominee, the GOP attack machine focuses laser-like on whatever they can use to divide the nominee from the mushy middle.
Also, incumbency is a powerful force, and I can see that Trump's remaining cronies have told him how to operate the levers of that power to influence an election.
I felt that Hillary Clinton would win overwhelmingly, too, and I have been cautious about predicting optimistic outcomes ever since then.
