Trump's personal assistant fired after comments about Ivanka, Tiffany

Madeleine Westerhout, who left her White House job suddenly on Thursday as President Trump’s personal assistant, was fired after bragging to reporters that she had a better relationship with Trump than his own daughters, Ivanka and Tiffany Trump, and that the president did not like being in pictures with Tiffany because he perceived her as overweight.

Given Westerhout’s sensitive role as a confidante to the president, the few details the White House shared about her abrupt firing had Washington’s political-media class in a quiet frenzy on Thursday night and Friday.

The critical comments happened at an off-the-record dinner, according to two people familiar with the matter, that Westerhout and deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley held earlier this month with reporters who were covering Trump’s vacation at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Westerhout also jokingly told the journalists that Trump couldn’t pick Tiffany out of a crowd, said one of the people. “She had a couple drinks and in an uncharacteristically unguarded moment, she opened up to the reporters,” the person said.

It's alright for men to be overweight in his world, but not women In his brain, women who are overweight and/or unattractive are considered "defective." Tiffany, being allegedly overweight and not a DILF also makes HIM look bad, because she is his offspring. He doesn't want anyone seeing that he produces "defective" offispring. (Apparently, he's never taken a close look at his two oldest sons, either...)

He barely had any part in her upbringing until she was, well, in puberty, at which point he started publically smooching and handling her.
As she grew up, he boasted about her sexiness publically.

Now she has to follow him around like a pooper scooper.

She's tolerating him so that she gets most or all of the money when he kicks off. And his attitude toward Tiffany is cruel and disgusting, considering the fact that he is always the fattest person in any photo he is in. Besides, she's not even overweight, from the pictures I have seen of her. Her face is a bit round, but she isn't heavy.

I have little-to-no sympathy for Trump sycophants, but there's supposed to be some ethics in journalism, and part of that is honoring "off the record" conversations, or at the very least saying up-front that you can't guarantee to do so, so that your source knows to keep their mouth shut. Agreeing to confidentiality and then breaching it just for the hell of it is lower-than-low. And, as noted elsewhere, it only means that reporters will have lost at least one and probably many voices of "deep background" in the administration, as I doubt anyone there would ever believe a reporter's promise to keep things off the record again.

44. Westerhout worked for Romney, reportedly wept Election Night 2016 . . . .
Fri Aug 30, 2019, 07:00 PM
Aug 2019

If so, then WTF was she doing working for Shtstain in the first place?

Today we have yet another in the endless story of Trump White House dysfunction. President Trump’s personal assistant was abruptly fired, translated into a “separated employee” after Trump learned that she’d blabbed to the press about Trump’s family. For good corporate measure, she was also barred from even entering the White House today. Again, yet more Trump nonsense.

But let me come at this from a different direction. We don’t know just what these family details were. But a personal assistant to the President has access to the President, his family and many of their collective intimacies and legitimately private life. If she really shared truly personal details with the press that is a massive breach and I suspect it would lead to termination under any White House — maybe not quite so jaggedly, with the equivalent of being escorted out of the building. But fired? I’m pretty sure yes.

But there’s another nugget that to me is the real story. Here’s a paragraph from the Times piece yesterday breaking this story.

Ms. Westerhout, a former Republican National Committee aide who also worked for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, reportedly cried on election night because she was upset over Mr. Trump’s victory. As such, the president at first viewed her warily, as a late convert to his cause who could not be trusted.

In the Trump world and with the kind of access journalism it spawns, I never know quite what to believe, quite what to take at face value. But if this is more or less accurate it’s just astounding. In November, Westerhout not only wasn’t a Trump loyalist she was apparently driven to tears when she learned he’d be President. She’d worked for the RNC and the Romney campaign. So she’s a professional Republican. But she holds Trump in such contempt that she still was driven to tears when he, the Republican nominee, won the presidency over Hillary Clinton?

EDIT

https://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/getting-fired-aint-the-story

EDIT

But some of Mr. Trump’s top officials — like John F. Kelly, who has since left as chief of staff — tried to turn Ms. Westerhout into an ally who could help them manage Oval Office traffic. They hoped that she could block individuals from reaching the president on the phone or in person, and that she would report back on the calls and meetings that made it through.

Ms. Westerhout’s power in the White House came almost entirely from proximity. She is not a name-brand White House aide and has never appeared on television, unless it was an accidental shot of her hovering behind her boss. But while she was not a decision maker, she enjoyed unique access to Mr. Trump.

She also often shared snapshots on her private Instagram account of her life in the West Wing, including travel to rallies and Trump properties, and in one post she joked that she had been responsible for printing out a piece of paper that Mr. Trump held up and referred to at a public event.
