I worked for a company who did text analytics (think the Predator program used by our intelligence to read emails to find terrorists) and we used the tech for a company wanting to get data on the efficacy of their products. To the end we developed a lie detector for social media. The results were stunning: Email 50% lies, Text 60% lies, FB 80% lies, Twitter 98% lies!
If you want the truth, delete your Twitter account now. Dont look to FB for news.
And for Gods sake dont read Trump tweets (or listen to any reporting about them!)!!!

(2,195 posts)E-mails aren't social media.
Texts aren't social media.
FB is 80% lies? What does that mean? Does that mean when folks post pictures of their vacations or grandkids 80% of them aren't real?
I don't think most people get their news from Facebook or Twitter.

(14,997 posts)There were many posts about Killery Clinton that one former FB friend posted all the time. He was a Bernie to Stein voter and he believed all the Russian BS about Secretary Clinton. And then he would repost articles about how the Russian infiltration was a hoax. That's what the OP is referring to here. Not personal photos of vacations.

With all due respect, I don't think you're any more qualified to say what the OP is referring to than I am.
Neither of us are mind readers.

(217 posts)...not me. The program read or looked at how many times the same text string was used, the proximity of certain phrases, etc.
Just think of how awesome your life would be without all the breathless reporting on Trumps 100% lying tweets!

(217 posts)...we lumped text and emails into the social media spectrum. They wanted a consistent way to evaluate comments about their products.
The 80% FB stat relates to not only ads disguised as real but also users projecting what they want you to think about them, not reality. How many of your family members on FB put a happy face on what is going on in their lives? A lie.

(217 posts)...and how many are lies in response? The pint I trying to make is that Twitter is not real - ignore it.
Pint...lol point.

(217 posts)If only we returned to researched and vetted news...like maybe a newspaper? So many of my family believe what they read on FB and Twitter 100%. So frustrating!
