A couple years ago, she told me about a shooting at a high school party out there in the 60s

Kid had a new rifle. His father drove him to the party with his new rifle so he could show it to the other kids

Kid walked up to one of his friends, pointed the rifle at him as a joke, and pulled the trigger

Oops. I didn't know the gun was loaded

The kid who was shot died

Everyone was sorry of course

It was treated as just another tragic but unavoidable accident
