For all the vets and active military

who are planning on voting for Mitt Romney, I hope you watched the Republican convention and noticed how often they paid tribute to you.

Ignoring our soldiers in Afghanistan, the many injured vets, and those who lost their lives is inexcusable, especially for a party that puts so much importance on flag pins and patriotism.

That is what I was thinking as well. They are doing everything possible to distance themselves from the Bush administration.

and not pay lip service to the military any more. They have their own private armies (Xe) and don't need or want military any more.

Their plan to rule the U.S. as an oligarchy with private armies and all the rest of us starving, uneducated serfs with no medical care, is going right on schedule as planned.

It's a little trickier for active duty, so I wouldn't expect to see them there.

... until shown true by actions or another source.

A flag-pin or lip service or whatever doesn't make me any better or worse off than I was before the speech.

On a second note, I don't need to be thanked for what I do. It's my job and my choice. If it comes.. Great.. If not.. doesn't bother me.

People who do their job without expectation of acknowledgement, most certainly deserve it, preferably as more than empty lip service.

I'd bet they are trolls. You're preaching to the choir unless you are directing this towards the trolls. The DU vets know the repub hypocrisy all too well and are committed to Obama/Biden 2012.

Have you ever been a fan of the comic strip, "Wizard of ID"? I think sometimes that is the repub vision of the future. The 99% of us will scuffle through life barefoot in hooded wool tunics assembling before the church/state king. Our only relief will be humoring ourselves with sarcastic remarks of complete skepticism under our breaths to one another.

I do remember "Wizard of Id". I rarely buy newspapers anymore so I haven't seen it for a long time.

I suppose I am preaching to the choir or maybe just thinking out loud, but we all know someone who is serving or has served in the military and if they start talking right wing politics, we might want to remind them that republicans couldn't find a few minutes during their convention to mention their service.

more than a few minutes of watching that fiasco.

By recognizing vets they would have to tacitly acknowledge that all of the successes in SW Asia have come under the current administration. Also that only reason everything has gone on for so long is the Bush the lesser and his cronies did not listen when the military (tactfully) pointed out that the plans for Afghanistan and Iraq were made by someone with their head up their ass and had no actual plan to achieve 'victory'. It was assumed that once we marched through, unicorns would dance in the flower petals that the locals had strewn in front of our troops...

Not only would it bring to mind Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, but it would also put a focus on the fact that President Obama has been an impressive Commander-in-Chief, something most people weren't really expecting, being he is one of those Harvard educated liberal elites.
