Full list: The 127 defense projects postponed for the border barrier

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/the-127-defense-projects-postponed-for-the-border-barrier

The PBS NewsHour has obtained the list of 127 defense projects the Pentagon is temporarily shelving in order to transfer the money allocated for them to building or repairing more miles of barrier on the southern border. The transfers will shift $3.6 billion to President Donald Trump’s efforts to construct a border fence or wall, allowing for 175 miles of new or repaired fencing, according to the Department of Defense.

Mr. Trump set up this unusual move earlier this year by declaring a national emergency on the southern border and opening the possibility of invoking special presidential powers. House Democrats lost an earlier court battle to try to stop this kind of fund transfer.

The now-deferred projects were planned for military installations in 23 states and around the world. They are diverse, ranging from schools and child care facilities to ammunition warehouses and firearms ranges. Defense Secretary Mark Esper agreed to the lists Tuesday but the Pentagon did not publicly release which projects would be included. Officials sent copies to key offices in Congress, as required when large funding are shifted.

The projects are divided into two lists: those in the territorial United States and those at overseas installations.

GOPers facing reelection in 2020 who voted in support of Trump's emergency declaration, & whose state military projects are now being raided to build the wall:

Tillis ($80M)
McSally ($30M)
McConnell ($62M)
Gardner ($8M)
Graham ($11M)
Cornyn ($48M)

In McConnell's Kentucky, that $62 million was supposed to go toward building a middle school at Fort Campbell. Now headed to build the wall.

...because if he creates the perception of "building the wall," he locks in the base. I understand that the current cash grab will build about 500 miles of fence. That ain't the whole border, ya know? So one of the other questions has been "If he shows that he's building it, even if it's not done before November 2020, will that be enough to appease his base?"

If he gets a second term, he gets:

1). A taxpayer-paid 3 day weekend of golf every week, with the occasional "two week "working vacation" at his resorts

2). Endless nose-thumbing at the emoluments clause, as he sends government officials, GOP staffers, and asserted foreign figures to his properties

3). Four more years to slam Obama, and proclaim himself as the greatest president ever

4). Four more years to rig the system to give his businesses even bigger tax breaks

I think the above represents the "angle"...as well as his not being "private citizen Trump" in 2121 and facing the SDNY.
