WV - Pastor's wife fires gun during fight with another pastor's wife in church parking lot

https://www.register-herald.com/news/pastor-s-wife-charged-after-allegedly-firing-pistol-at-church/article_4c70508b-bda2-5435-9178-2496e765fd49.html

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office deputies have charged a 44-year-old pastor’s wife with wanton endangerment after she allegedly fired a pistol in a church parking lot in May. The incident reportedly happened during a heated meeting with the wife of the church youth pastor.

Melinda Frye Toney, of Oak Hill, was charged on Aug. 22, after police viewed video surveillance that had been taken at New Life Apostolic Church in Oak Hill on May 11, according to Fayette Sheriff’s Detective Kevin Willis.

According to Willis, Toney left the meeting and walked out to her vehicle in the church parking lot.

“At some point, the suspect leaves the church and goes outside and retrieves a firearm,” said the detective. “So then, whenever she comes outside of the church, the husband is with her and realizes what she is doing and goes to grab her, and it goes off.”

He (Det. Willis) added that Toney had a concealed weapon permit at the time the pistol fired, which he believes “should be revoked” after court proceedings on the wanton endangerment charge.

Anyone to find a church.

It really chaps me that these churches are tax exempt.

”There was definitely no affair,” Haywood said, saying she has been “happily married” for 13 years.

Yeah sure because churchgoing people don’t have affairs.

you take God out of Church.

Love the detective who said she should lose her concealed weapons permit, because of this. UHH..no. she should be charged with a felony and lose her rights to own a gun.

She fired a shot over a squabble about a t-shirt the other woman wore. If her husband was not there to stop her, she could have killed the woman and maybe the woman's kids and husband who were there with her. Over a fucking t-shirt.

What ever happened to "an armed society is a polite society" NRA talking point?

For the New Christians the hate in their hearts has replaced the word of God. Those people look like my brother-in-law and his wife. Pure bat-shit crazy.

... Gorge, cabal TV and the internet, and for generations it used to be many people around that area
"owed their soul to the company store" add in listening to and buying into the crap they pass off as
"the word of God" in their fundamentalist church and you have problems. And even though I go there
almost every year to go white water rafting some people there are just plain mean. Even though down
deep they know that coal is dying you have people looking to pick fights w/liberals because Obama
closed down their coal mines.

I might be wrong but I betya that Mrs. Pastor was married @ 17 and had 3 babies by 21.

But it's full of ugly people. I think part of their cling to "conservativism" is stubbornness. They hate educated people because of their own life choices. Conservatives encourage them to blame others for their own shortcomings.

And I bet you are right. They got married and had babies and the reality of what it takes to live hit them right square in the face. And then they began to hate.

My in laws are the same way. We don't deal with them.

... of a study looking @ coal mine activities and how it effected the ground water and I
will always remember the rage some woman had at us when we asked for a sample of her
tap water. It was as if we responsible for her lot in life my friend wanted to go back and ask
her again for some of her tap water but i told that she was lost and not worth the effort.

The hate some people have in Appalachia is generational in nature and in many cases only
death will make it stop. For years the bosses of the coal mines and chemical plants have
harnessed that hate to help control people and the regional politics too. Trump, the NRA,
and Putin have all tapped into the vein of hate.

It's interesting because on one hand the Appalachian people wanted to be left alone. But they also seem angry about being left alone. But I agree that they have been taken advantage of by the same people they revere. It's sad, really.

That woman didn't want you looking at her drinking water because if you found something, it would just be a lie. I say let her drink her poison.

You hear this from the religious right.....That's what happens when you take God out of schools. By their train of thought, this shooting must be the result of taking God out of church. A perversion of Heinlein's quote "an armed society is a polite society" is used by the NRA and right wingers to justify owning guns.
