I met President Obama today!
by weatherdude
Isn't he awesome? I'm forever thankful to Clint Eastwood for introducing us.

(53,339 posts)That was a good speech, but some of the news reports seem to be burying the lead. President Obama announced there that he had just signed an Executive Order directing more resources to support troops and vets, especially in mental health services and outreach. More counselors are being hired starting tomorrow.
CNN had live coverage and may have the video up by now. Quite a contrast with Mitt's lip service last night!

(879 posts)I am very happy for the mental health services. It has been hard dealing with, even though he retired six years ago. His era was still taught admitting you needed help was a a sign of weakness.

(53,339 posts)...is that they see a sudden explosion of PTSD symptoms in service members upon their retirement. We know how important having a good support system is, and the military can be a good support system for many--until it's suddenly gone.
Tell your husband to hang in there--from another vet who is still "hanging in there." And you hang in there, too.

I sat on a yoga ball for the rest of the day. The president appeared to appreciate the gesture.
