Not only should we guard against complacency...
we must never forget the unconscious bias of the communities in which we live. These biases continue to create unseen roadblocks in the election landscape.
We are witness every day to elected privileged white men displaying their advantage in the crudest and most common of ways. I do not feel the need to list them all here, as you all know the nasty I am talking about. In spite of these outrageous, in your face, breaches of civil, ethical, moral and legal norms, there is a part of the electorate who look at these awful creatures, and they think to themselves, if only I vote for them, they will let me be part of this fantasy land of privilege and rule breaking. Of course, that will never happen because we, the electorate, are mere pawns in their torrid games of power and control. But again, and again the evidence shows us the same people voting against their own best interests cause white privilege and a desire to belong somewhere that will never accept them.
This unconscious bias has been built up over a long long time, it will be a hard nut to crack
