I feel like the struggle to resist frump has succeeded and is over. We won.

Not saying I have any scientific proof: I feel like the morons who identify with the orangutan are never gonna change, and so the struggle is over. We've won the independent vote, and now, it's just a matter of time: The voters who sat out 2016 have learned their lesson. They'll vote for the dem no matter what. Frump's idiots will either vote for him or stay home.

Struggle over.

It's gonna take years to undo the damage, but, he's toast, he knows it. He's acting like he knows it. His white house staff are leaking that he's mentally compromised: That's his out: It's not that he's a loser: It's that he's sick and old and senile. Gottit.

Either way, he's just going through the motions: There is no press secretary. There are no press briefings, because he's not really the president and he's not really running anything. He's just walking out the clock.

Such a definitive term, yet ambiguous because there’s no defined beginning thing to suddenly end.

Maybe we could say the tide has turned, because your observation is spot on—Independents aren’t tuning in to the Trump Show anymore. And more important, only the rabidly devoted deplorables show up at the rallies, and middle-of-the-road people don’t wanna be identified as one of the deplorables.

People have fallen out of love with Trump. Sadly, many are “diseased” from the experience.

to finally execute what I call the "giant undo"

We are going to have to impeach every judge the orange blob nominated and got the bullshit Senate to confirm, starting with the two he put on the SCOTUS.

We don't need cause... just the votes.

And that is very unlikely to happen... but I will hold out hope.

Until we do, we will live with the legacy of a idiot president for a generation or more.

the case could be made that's it's already over and we've lost. Some possibilities:

1) Trump could fabricate and declare a national emergency and suspend the upcoming election. Who's going to stop him?

2) Even with an election expect a huge push in a number of states to purge mostly minority voters off the rolls. A 2016-type Electoral College outcome is very possible.

3) In the event of a Dem victory Trump could declare election fraud and refuse to leave the presidency. Again, who's going to stop him?

it's like how at first no one would call him a liar.
now they are finally saying out loud that he has no marbles. we all know it's true.

trouble is, he was never in charge. whoever is running this show is and will be running this show until we shut it down.

but i think once the hearings are up and running, it will go downhill for him fast. i suspect at that point the kids will indeed trundle him off to a nice quiet place.

i am good w hearings until 11/20, and taking every one of these crooks out. it will take at least that long just to get through all the evidence of all the crimes.

And the other day, an older white man whom I considered a friend was distressed that the Dems didn't seem to be putting forward anyone he could vote for. I could not relate. Most of my voting life has been supporting the most progressive candidate possible and then trudging to the polls to vote for the milquetoast moderate that ends up on the ballot.

Trump fatigue is setting in. He's his own worst enemy, and best campaign ad for the Democrats.
But, a lot of crazy shit can happen in the next 14 months.
I do believe that the Democrats will win the Presidency in 2020, and by a large margin. I also think we will take the Senate and increase our hold on the House.
But it ain't over yet.
The Republicans are determined to nominate him again. His people have pretty much taken control of the party, but at the expense of driving out the last few sane, ethical people from their party.
Also it does look like we take the middle by a big margin.
So it's a pretty good call, but not quite in the "it's over" category yet.
Maybe a Biden/Warren ticket could finish the job.
I say this even though I support Warren since Joe has huge support in the middle, and Warren will bring in the progressives.

Trump is a minority President. He has no redeeming characteristics and personifies what most of us were raised to avoid. When Trump leaves office he will become destitute that is his motivation. The only deal he knows how to make is retaliation and coercion.

If Donald Trump does not disgust you, you have a problem.

Sun Sep 8, 2019, 01:00 AM
Sep 2019

1. The extent and effectiveness of Russian intervention.
2. Turnout at the polls of independents and other non-Trump constituencies (a.k.a., the empathy factor).
3. The energy level of Trump supporters and the impact of closeted Trumpers (i.e., people who poll as opposed to Trump, but who'll vote for Trump in the secrecy of the voting booth).
4. The effectiveness of voter the suppression protocol implemented by Republican states over the last several years. (The cumulative number of people purged from voter rolls is now in the millions.)
5. Wag-the-dog scenarios in-waiting. What emergencies will Trump manufacture to destabilize the democratic process next year?
6. The impact of the judiciary as Trumps nominees come to dominate the federal judicial climate.

Many on DU said Hillary had it in the bag when Trump became the R-nominee. It was unthinkable that this unseemly man could beat a seasoned leader.

I said we can't trust Republicans any further than we can throw them and that we were counting our chickens before they were hatched.

I've learned the hard way to never say "it's over" or "we won" until the votes are counted and our candidate is picking the White House china.

These Republicans are too clever, corrupt and morally compromised. We can't rest - or say anything that would keep anyone home on election day - until we've actually won.
