Why would Sweden drop the case? If they've got evidence, shouldn't they pursue it?

(10,751 posts)...until a second prosecutor decided it should go ahead. So it's not that strange he should say that.
As to whether there is a chance of it being dropped for a second time, I have no idea.

Especially that "unusual world event we can't predict..."

(31,211 posts)it will cast a brand new light on Pres. Correa and his motives here. Assange would be the perfect propagandist for a government who has a horrible record with regard to freedom of the press. Correa's record, reportedly, is "among the very worst in the Americas". Everyone should take a look at this link entitled: "Free Speech in Ecuador has Limits", leaving some Ecuadorian journalists scratching their heads in amazement at Correa's hypocrisy.
