Clinton was good at creating conditions which boost jobs and lower debt by taxing the rich.
LBJ created problems by spending too much in Vietnam (guns and butter policy).

Most republican presidents during my lifetime have always favored tax cuts for the rich and boosting military expenditures and increase debt.
