on the sole basis of the possible mishandling of vital information. There are ways of circumventing that. There is much more below the surface way too damning at this time for public exposure. Maybe for me it is way too much John le Carre.

were alerted to the extraction(s) BEFORE they occurred.

One can bet that a.) they lied to Trump about the when....the agent was already safely away before they told Trump as the CIA isn't foolish enough to alert him beforehand and b.) it was likely more than one single agent although the most senior one is who they mentioned. Why tell Trump otherwise?

One can also bet our intelligence agencies alerted every single friendly foreign intelligence agency to be real careful or stop sending intelligence through normal channels at the same time. No doubt most allies see what the CIA saw: a Russian agent in the WH!

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/09/09/politics/russia-us-spy-extracted/index.html

Washington(CNN)...

A person directly involved in the discussions said that the removal of the Russian was driven, in part, by concerns that President Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy.

The decision to carry out the extraction occurred soon after a May 2017 meeting in the Oval Office in which Trump discussed highly classified intelligence with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and then-Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak. The intelligence, concerning ISIS in Syria, had been provided by Israel.

...

The removal happened at a time of wide concern in the intelligence community about mishandling of intelligence by Trump and his administration. Those concerns were described to CNN by five sources who served in the Trump administration, intelligence agencies and Congress.

Those concerns continued to grow in the period after Trump's Oval Office meeting with Kislyak and Lavrov. Weeks after the decision to extract the spy, in July 2017, Trump met privately with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit in Hamburg and took the unusual step of confiscating the interpreter's notes. Afterward, intelligence officials again expressed concern that the President may have improperly discussed classified intelligence with Russia, according to an intelligence source with knowledge of the intelligence community's response to the Trump-Putin meeting.

As soon as the CIA saw how Chump blabbed everything to Kislyak in the Oval Office, they knew they had a problem. Their top spy who had access to Putin would be outed if the CIA didn't get him out of there as soon as possible.

This information tells us something important - the CIA must have known that Chump was a Russian agent even before the 2016 election. WTF CIA, when were you planning to tell the rest of us?

Sep 2019

Not only has the CIA been forced to pull experienced agents from Russia—agents it may have taken a decade or more to implant safely—but Trump has also managed to get some of the most experienced FBI agents with knowledge of Russian tactics fired. He is a Russian asset and has been for years, most likely when they bailed him out of bankruptcy in the late 80s.

I know that many Republicans like McConnell, Nunes, Jordan, and others are corrupt as can be, but surely Russia cannot own all of them. What is wrong with these elected representatives that they are willing to stay silent while Trump tries to destroy our national intelligence services and opens the door to top US secrets to Vladimir Putin! Are there no honest, patriotic Republicans left in Congress?

realized that he could easily expose the spy, especially since he was going to meet with Putin in Helsinki.

Even if not on purpose or directly, Trump could reveal info that Russians could use to figure out the spy. That's what he did with Sislyak: he revealed info just to brag about how great his intel was, like a grade school kid bragging that he knew a big, important secret.

And then there's his cuddly relationship with Putin. They couldn't even be sure he wouldn't give him the info on purpose.

...on general principles, never let something like this come up without highlighting the foam cannoning that went on about Hillary's "carelessness" about security in her emails.

The portion of that which was accurate was 1) well below the the threshold where authorities thought action was necessary (except Comey, who added his own stream to the foam), and 2) it amounts to a mite on a flyspeck on a tiddlywinks piece compared to what Trump has done.

And the whole goddamn Republican Party aids and abets him. None of them in power balk. Occasional muttering in their cups, but no real action.

Never, NEVER tell Donald Trump anything that isn't open source.

All our agencies have a desk whose sole purpose is to analyze material from the civilian press - newspapers, magazines, radio and television. You can get enough information to keep Trump as informed as he wants to be from that source, and by only telling him things you found in the New York Times (without, of course, telling him where you got it) you can protect your classified collectors.
