... "I know nothing about an Air Force plane landing at an airport (which I do not own and have nothing to do with) near Turnberry Resort (which I do own) in Scotland, and filling up with fuel, with the crew staying overnight at Turnberry (they have good taste!). NOTHING TO DO WITH ME," he tweeted ...
The House Oversight and Reform Committee earlier this year launched a probe of the stays after aircraft were directed to land at Prestwick Airport, in Glasgow, Scotland. The crew members would then stay at Turnberry. The Air Force had previously launched a separate inquiry into those stays.
The number of overnight stops at Prestwick has steadily increased in recent years. There were 40 in 2015, 75 in 2016, 116 in 2017, 208 in 2018 and 220 through August 2019.
The Air Force was unable to immediately say how many of those overnight stays were made at Turnberry ...

(118,273 posts)a total of 936 times (*659 overnight stays), including 95 (*40) in 2015, 145 (*75) in 2016, 180 (*116) in 2017, 257 (*208) in 2018 and 259 (*220) through August 2019," <Brig Gen Thomas'> statement added.

Number of stops is way up (95 in 2015 and 259 in 2019 so far), and so is fraction of stops with overnight stays (42% in 2015 and 85% in 2019 so far)

(3,158 posts)It will never happen. Being ignored would put him over the edge though, no doubt. I wish they would at least quit calling him President and/or putting out pics and videos.

(61,692 posts)AF leaders who signed off on this with prison or brig time or loss of pensions for stealing taxpayer money? Maybe they'll suddenly produce an email from Mulvaney saying trump instructed him to authorize it.

... According to Companies House filings, SLC Turnberry's parent company Golf Recreation Scotland was in the red by almost £3.4m in 2017.
In the previous year, it posted losses of £17.6m after the resort was closed for six months for redevelopment.
Since Mr Trump took over Turnberry in 2014, its losses have totalled £33m.
Mr Trump stepped down as a director in January last year after becoming US president, handing control of his business empire to his sons ...

(22,100 posts)taken a big hit over the last 10-20 years (the industry in general). More than likely due to lack of customer demand (golfing is not as big as it was at one time). Figures and serves idiot right, since he's been wrong constantly in his investing decisions. I hope that he loses it all when it all finally comes crashing down.
Take care!

(762 posts)One or two might be explainable, but 40 and 75 seem high considering the advantages of stopping at military installations.

(118,273 posts)... In July we told how the luxury resort raked in over £11,000 from his own government, according to a report.
It was claimed the hotel and golf course received cash to cover the cost of rooms.
We told last year how the Trump resort made a loss of more than £3.3million.
But the losses at Turnberry had shrunk compared to previous years with revenues improving ...

(19,024 posts)This is why every President before him disengaged from their business and put their interests into blind trusts. Trump is 100% responsible and culpable for what his businesses did. There is no deniability, he is the acting CEO of this resort.
And besides, it's a certainty that the military was staying there at Trump's request to funnel money to his private bank account.

(13,903 posts)The problem is not stopping at Prestwick as much as putting up military personnel at his failing expensive resort.
Unfortunately, I think FF45 is correct, this is some christofascist supporters work.

The idea that he knows anything about how the Air Force operates to even come up with the scheme gives him too much credit.

(53,764 posts)Buying a remote course dependent on a small airport for access was not the wisest business decision. But trump is not known for making great business decisions. Multiple bankruptcies tell the tale.

(8,964 posts)Trump's choice of a national motto to replace "E Pluribus Unum" would be "I Plausibly Deny". Never knew what David Duke is. Doesn't know what white nationalism is. Never a friend of Jeffrey Epstein. Was not aware of Russian any intrusions into the 2016 campaign. Hush money paid to Stormy WHO? To name but a few. There is apparently no upper limit to the number of outright lies told or yet to be told.
