(102,221 posts)the absolute loss of innocence for the rest of us.
I can't believe it's been that long... my kids never knew a world before that.
I watch certain movies now that have climactic scenes in airports, and realize that could never happen now.
So much lost, not just that day but still in subsequent military actions...

(3,433 posts)I truly understand your post. I understand its importance. It is poignant and appropriate. Yet at the same time it makes me so angry and sad. I am mad at the missed opportunity. I am mad for myself and everyone else harmed by that day. We lost someone we cherished. Gods, I hate September 11th.
I know that I am not alone. I know there are so many people harmed by that day. So many people who lost wives, husbands, friends and children. It is a pain that comes from a senseless tragedy. When it happened we couldnt believe it. We were shocked with grief coupled with confusion. So many of us couldnt understand why they hated us so much.
For most of the country 9/11 is a day of tragedy and loss without personal impact. They recognize the horror and tragedy. So many of all political spectrum feel and recognize the horror of what happened. For those of us personally affected, it's a day that reminds us of the loved ones we lost. We feel the pain again and grasp to understand why the hate was so strong that it led to murdering thousands of people.
I hate September 11th. It's a reminder of what we lost but more importantly... how little we have learned about ourselves and how little they have learned about us.

I hate this Anniversary. More so for Sean's parents. No one should have to bury their kid. I didnt realize how much that was true until I had my own child. Ugh. I am getting no sleep tonight.

I seriously think it was the most defining moment/day in our history, and for television, internet, etc. probably even more so than Pearl Harbor Day.

(43 posts)Looking at America before and after the attack it becomes clear the terrorist won a victory. We are now governed by a dictator. Our police no longer serve and protect - they search and kill. Our allies are murderers. The truth is a lie. The poor are treated as vermin.
Anyone who looks different - sounds different - thinks different - is a traitor.
