In Pentagon speech, Trump repeats lie that "I went down to ground zero to try to help"

“It was a day filled with shock, horror, sorrow, and righteous fury. I vividly remembered when I first heard the news. I was sitting at home watching a major business television show early that morning. Jack Welch, the legendary head of General Electric, was about to be interviewed when all of a sudden they cut away,” the president said.

“At first there were different reports, it was a boiler fire. But I knew that boilers aren’t at the top of a building. It was a kitchen explosion… Nobody really knew what happened. There was great confusion,” Trump continued.

“I was looking out of a window from a building in midtown Manhattan directly at the World Trade Center when I saw a second plane at a tremendous speed go into the second tower. It was then that I realized the world was going to change.

“I was no longer going to be, and it could never ever be, that innocent place that I thought it was. Soon after, I went down to ground zero with men who work for me to try to help in any little way that we could,” Trump said.

However, if he did go down there, just how would talking about himself be of any help at all? If that "no longer going to be" thought is not a dramatic fabrication, I don't know what is. Who would be thinking that in the middle of a HUGE crises? Your concern about the changes it would bring would be long after the shock of it.

I bet his windows don't even face South.

Besides the second plane approached from the South and not many saw it until it exploded because the WTC buildings blocked that view. I was there. And Trump wasn't. During or After.

went down there to help???

It was the only time I have ever seen my husband cry - when he saw firemen go back into the building to save people - knowing full well that they may die. To put yourself among this group is a travesty.

A Democrat barbers an account or embroiders their own role in an event, and the media do not, will not, can not let it go. They track it down to a fare-thee-well, and many ominous reports are filed about how so-and-so is in big trouble, their credibility is shot, and they might as well withdraw from public life immediately and go live in a monastery or a convent somewhere.

Trump sticks with his lying-ass self-aggrandizing stories, the media might mention in passing that it's not true (or, more likely, say that there's no evidence at the present time that Trump's story is true, as if evidence might suddenly materialize that proves his lie is actually true), but there's never any follow up about what a liar Trump is, how he keeps repeating his lies even when he knows they're lies and everyone knows he's lying, and there is for sure never any tut-tutting about how Trump needs to step down since he can't tell the truth.

There will one detail that I remember incorrectly, one of the people involved or something like that.

I had a rock group in the eighth grade...me and two other guys. I posted an anecdote about it on Facebook. I named one of the original members, and in the comments, the guy who replaced him replied "That was me." And it was, because...eighth grade.

Big difference between that and flat-out manufacturing entire scenarios that never happened, unless you're an author of fiction. Which Trump is.

If he only heard about the 1st plane on T.V but was talking about actually seeing the 2nd plane hit doesn't it seem odd that if he was that close that he would not have heard it before the news about it came on?

I am pretty sure that the hitting planes made a lot of very loud noise.
