Yes. I've come to believe that. That's why I took the plunge and decided to back Warren. She's really clear and to the point and energized. I'd love to see some of her stuff go into national ads. As she says, the problems are much bigger than Trump. We can't afford to play it safe.

John Thune saying Americans need to "make themselves small" to avoid gun violence.

McConnell and Ryan saying we need to cut Social Security and Medicare due to budget shortfalls caused by tax cuts

Trump and Putin at Helsinki, where Trump looked like a whipped puppy and Putin looked like the dog that whipped him.

Our Republican Senators going to Moscow for the Fourth of July to meet privately with Putin.

How long do you have to learn around to figure out this is not true.

Why do you think the orange-haired Fuhrer gets such a following?

Why do we love movies so much?

Emotion to emotion to emotion. Yes, it helps to have truth and righteousness and principle on your side. It helps to lay them out. But the orange-haired one gets people jumping from one emotion to another, lousy ones even, and they are many of them thrilled and overjoyed to be so entertained.

Democrats need to speak to Emotion and to Principle (which you notice is a nice mix of reason and truth and emotion, but without emotion is nothing). Truth to power.

Emotion. That's how we make most of our decisions, and there's nothing wrong with it. This isn't Planet Vulcan!!!

Howard Dean was the best I’ve ever heard at making the case for the Dems. His “What I Wanna Know” speech should be required viewing for all serious presidential candidates. Even though it was symbolic only by the time the MO primary rolled around, my VERY, VERY capital “C” Conservative dad voted (as did I) for Dean. My dad liked that he wasn’t “wishy-washy” and didn’t prevaricate. He liked that he wasn’t afraid to stand behind the principles of the Democratic Party and that he was able to make our platform sound like good, common sense. Most importantly, he liked his push-back against Bush and the Iraq War. My dad was a Marine Corps veteran and no shrinking violet from armed conflict. But he knew the Iraq War was irrelevant to 9/11 and he really liked that Dean was unafraid to bang that drum over and over.

The reasons for Dean’s losses are common knowledge now and water under the bridge.

But it feels like we need a Howard Dean-like firebrand this time around (male or female). Someone who can go toe-to-toe in a long, protracted battle with the insane lunatic he or she will be running against. Someone who can and will “give” as good as they’re going to have to take. Someone who can dominate the media with vigorous, attention-getting sound-bytes and STRONG, consistent messaging. Because even now - despite all the campaigning by our top tier candidates - Trump continues to dominate every news cycle. It’s what he does best. He continues to be a flaming piece of shit who will say, text and do anything and everything to keep the media focused on him and away from the Dems. The fact that Nancy P. had to get angry to make her very valid point about the Senate “do-nothings” tells us everything we need to know about the media.

Democrats traditionally try to take the high road. The road of civility. We like talking about policy. THE ORANGE ANUS DOESN’T UNDERSTAND POLICY. HE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT THE HARM HIS EXECUTIVE ORDERS ARE CAUSING THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY OR OUR COUNTRY’S STANDING IN THE WORLD. HIS ONLY GOALS ARE TO MAKE MORE MONEY FOR HIMSELF AND DO THE BIDDING OF HIS BUDDIES, THE DICTATORS HE SPEAKS SO FONDLY OF. HE IS BREAKING THE LAWS OF THIS COUNTRY THAT NO OTHER AMERICAN IS IMMUNE TO AND DESTROYING OUR DEMOCRACY IN THE PROCESS. The Dems need to bang THAT drum over and over and over until the media sits up and takes note. The media wants a dog fight. We need to learn to be the BIG dog in this fight.
