Our government is broken.

And it is going to take more than an election to fix it.

Just my opinion.

The people have no one to blame but themselves. They took their democracy for granted. They were not vigilant. They were not involved. They were ignorant of what was going on around them.

America was a grand experiment for the world. It would be tragic and sad if it were to end. People need the hope and freedom that America promised.

An election, alone, will not fix it. We will need leaders with big ideas and the bravery to tackle the huge problems we face. We will need people that believe in government again. They must unite and work together.

1. We have an epidemic of hate and "otherism" that will destroy us if we can't turn it around.

I no longer feel it hyperbolic to discuss how much at risk we are of a turn to overt fascism and the similarities in our society today and that of late 1930s Germany.

Still, one has to survive, so I try to hold out some modicum of hopefulness.

4. It is a nation of hate and "otherism." It has become vogue in the US to be hateful and to spread

hatred. It seems an epidemic and is constantly stirred up by this thing in the WH we call a president. It's become a very sick country working to devour itself with endless hatred. Hopefully this can start to change in 2020, that is my hope. ... but all Americans need to start paying attention to WTF is going on and stop believing our democracy just glides along on auto-cruise control. Far too often now politics has become a game of sport and the hurling of insults by the GOP rather than intelligent ideas and directions.

I think a lot of people fall into that trap. I know I have.

3. Putin's plan to sow discord and weaken our country..

..has borne fruit beyond his wildest dreams. Oh, the ugly side of some Americans has been there all along, but Putin.. and his tool trump.. nourished those feelings and brought them to the front.

If the two sides in this country were a married couple, and I was a marriage counselor, I'd recommend divorce. Irreconcilable differences. Things have been said and done that can't be un-said and un-done.

picture. And have been quite successful in using their stooge tRump to tear the country apart and divide it. The differences in the country seem to be increased and cemented further each day. I often think of the same analogy, a married couple with irreconcilable differences. I am hoping 2020 will start to resolve this, but I just don't know. The problems extend far beyond the presidency.

7. The GOP is off the rails

They had coups in 2000, 2004 and committed treason in 2016 by conspiring with hostile foreign powers to steal elections.

Republicans are broken. They're mobbed up. They hate us.
